Tonight I spoke with MuddySludgefor the last time. He is terminal.
Muddy has been a good friend and fellow musician who has helped me to progress as a new guitarist. The long conversations we've had have been invaluable. The encouragement he has given me has kept me striving to be as good as those heroes I worship, but always with these words to "just enjoy the ride". I met Muddy here on the Kemper site by posting and sharing songs. We both treasure the friendship and quality of musicians here along with the wealth of knowledge from our fellow musicians. He wanted me to make sure I told you this. He loves the Kemper Community and the Profiler. It was a "game-changer" for him as it is for many of us, and in more ways than one.
Muddy has given away all of his equipment to close friends. He gave the Profiler to Gary at Nomad Recording Studios, which I hope will be joining this Community.
I was fortunate enough to do a collab with Muddy. He had asked me a couple of months ago to perform a solo over one of his songs; Driving Ms. Diesel. Muddy is a far superior guitarist than I am, so I was pretty intimidated. Tonight he listened to our collab for the first time, and he was deeply grateful. Muddy always said "Music should be shared". And there is no doubt about that. I haven't known Muddy a lifetime but we became life-long friends.
Muddy said he lived a blessed life and had no regrets. He loved all music, and he loved his profession.
Writing this is emotional. Muddy asked me to do this but in my own words. There is more I can say and can be said. But I will close with this...
You know, when a person leaves you; a piece of you is lost. But when a musician leaves you; he leaves you with music.
Thanks friend!
