If/when that happens to me (rare) I try a USB stick install and that works.

This is the true revenge of the nerds..
I'll be interested of course to hear it in all its glory, but right now (early) I'm not motivated to change.

Nice summary of what is coming:

Back to the subject matter,
Is there any more precise timeline for when we could expect to at least hear a demonstration of the old vs the new profiling algorithm? Also, with the steps be different than they are now?
Since it appears that the DSP chip is not changed, is there any chance of getting an upgrade for an MK1 to enable it to enjoy playing back the MK2 profiles in full resolution?
From what I've read, MK 1 will not play profiles created by MK 2 at full resolution, full stop...

Much ado about nothing methinks

So, I have heard tell that MK1 will be able to play profiles created with higher resolution with MK2 albeit scaled down.
Considering that MK1 is likely sampling at a minimum of 48Khz and is capable of recreating frequencies far above the human hearing already ....
Is it possible that MK1 playback of MK2 created profiles will be indistinguishable between MK1 and MK2 playback?
In this scenereo, the assumption is that the higher quality profiling algorithm is the limiting factor in creating the profile and that once created, down sampling has no effect on the final output.
This is certainly true in many other digital domain DSP.
Thoughts?
Highly entertaining... hadn't thought about it that way.

is there any reason OG hardware owners should update to OS 13, then?
I did it/do it just to stay current, even though the couple of new options are likely not going to get used (famous last words)...

Would love to know this as well.

I just read a comment from someone who had talked to kemper support and they verified that the profiles made with mk2 will work on mk1 but they won't sound exactly the same
Interesting. That insinuates that they'll be "reverted" to what we enjoy today without whatever benefit the new process brings.

If I can use mk2 profiles on my mk1, I might well stay put. As I mentioned in another post, I want to support the company as I have absolutely had excellent value from my mk1 so my choice is between ‘keep what I have’ or ‘sell it and upgrade to mk2’. I don’t have a roving eye here due to the fact existing one is great and has been rock solid for years.
This will likely guide my future as well. I have zero plans to change brands.

Does the new mk2 release bring also some new features to the mk1, or is the mk1 now dead? Will old profiles still be fully compatible? Can i switch to the mk2 and still have all my profiles sounding the same? And is there also a powered mk2?
From what I understand there will be a modicum of new features for the MK 1, but I just did the beta and don't see anything yet.
Old profiles should work in MK 2, and yes there's a powered MK 2

I updated my MK 1 Toaster and apart from seeing a new USB driver install I don't see any changes in RM.
Haven't spent enough time with it though.

Is this available on the Kemper MK1?
I just updated my MK1 head and do not see it

Are these things shipping now?

As V8guitar touched on, Init Globals can be a big help, especially on a used unit.
Unexpected events
In case any inputs or outputs don’t operate as you would expect, or you experience any other unpredicted behavior, the soft button “Init Globals” in System Settings will reset most global parameters in System Settings and Output Section as well as returning all locks to their default state. This way, you are always able to recover a defined state of settings. Your stored Rigs, presets, Performances, and Slots won’t be impacted by this reset. You could also restore your latest backup, which will recover your complete global settings as well as entire content. We strongly recommend that you create PROFILER backups whenever you have performed any major parameter adjustments, or created new content, and that you keep your USB memory stick handy. Given the size of customary USB memory stick you could easily keep hundreds of PROFILER backup archives available. Another best practice is to store the operating system file “kaos.bin” in the root directory of your USB memory stick. This way, not only can you effectively update your PROFILER, but also keep some additional recovery options. -
If the cab is passive you will need an amplifier of some sort.
You would then use a guitar type cable from the Monitor out of the Kemper to the input of the amp. Then a speaker cable from the output of the amp to the Carvin cab.
You would want to match the amp output to the speaker/cab impedance.
