No disrespect meant, but the Surf's Up profile doesn't get anywhere close to a real spring tank on an old Super Reverb or the like. It's a fine attempt at a stop gap solution, but I stand by my original comments on the matter : if the KPA is supposed to replicate the sound of tube guitar amps as closely as possible, then without an absolutely convincing spring reverb that can get as close as the profiling algorithm does to the feel, gain and tone of the amp, it cannot say that it has been successful. It is a BIG part of the sound of those old amps.
(High End) Spring Reverb

not the guys I know. Maybe in retro bands but most younger players I know don't covet tube amps or spring reverbs. I think if it was a huge dealbreaker, kemper would have implemented it already. I think you can see that in the various polls you see around here where folks vote for what they'd like to see next. Spring Reverb is never the #1 in any of the polls I've seen. I just happen to unfortunately be in the minority who believe that without spring reverb, you can't ever hope to emulate '60s fender amps...Or Two-Rock for that matter.
Younger guys use Spring Reverb WAY more than any other type. Indie Rock, Shoegaze, Psych Rock, Punk, Folk--even Country uses Spring Reverb. There are a lot of bands over the last 10 years that crank the amp spring verb AND add a Holy Grail pedal in front of it for serious Spring madness.
I think the main reason they didn't think of adding it is that the Kemper team came from synth programming (re: Access Virus), Spring Reverb isn't real common in synth programming or in the genres that the Virus is used in. It's mostly used for guitars playing non-dance/electronic music unless you are being creative.

a pretty dramatic statement, especially when considering the Fender amps from the '60s that simply didn't have a spring reverb.

Sorry Don, we'll have to disagree. The '60s fender amp sound was characterized by spring reverb. Princeton reverb, deluxe reverb, vibroverb, vibrosonic, pro reverb, twin reverb, etc.
Yes, there were fender amps in the '60s that didn't have reverb but the vast majority did and it's an integral part of the sound of the blues guitar lexicon as well as surf music. Can you honestly say that blues and surf music in the '60s would have sounded the same without spring reverb? And the kemper reverb is not good. It's not even as good as an intermediate level stomp box IMO. In fact, as I've said before, this is the Achilles heel of the kemper (to date). The stomp boxes and effects just don't compare to the boutique pedals on the market.

Yep, I think @jzucker absolutely has a point.
Certain Fender era and certain genres are unthinkable without spring reverb.
Therefore, knowing that Kemper in the end wants to recreate to the highest degree, I think this is one of the most valid feature requests -

It seems to me, that what would be in line with the concept of the Profiler would be a convolution reverb (like Altiverb, Space Designer, Waves IR, etc.), so you could load your own impulses, including springs and plates. And a fancy tremolo or vibrato that you could put before or after the reverb to get those cool Supro tones. By the way, not too many Supros on the Rig Exchange, eh? I think I'll make some.

Great idea! Could imagine, this is what they're after. And the sound of those reverbs in my DAW do sound great.

@TedRackley
Supro! Yes, some profiles would be great -
I don't own any Supros, but we have them at work, and they are incredible warm, sweet sounding amps. Is it un-ethical to profile amps at a music store that you work at? I believe Anderton's loaned TAF some Victory Amps, and I bought that pack.

Yes please! -
Profiling supros is always Ethical to me
