I have an old Line 6 Pod XT Live. But I hate that thing.
I am always on the hunt for an inexpensive Kemper, but I like the look of the Hotone Britwind.

I got you beat. I have an old Line 6 Spider 3 that is not the worst thing in the world, has 4 channels and can get me by and has a couple times. It sucks to go there but it's saved me and is super light, takes seconds to set up and takes little space and dependable. Has decent clean & drive and so so but usable distortion channel and plenty of gain lead channel you can put delay on. You can get 'em for like $50.00 For what I could get out of it, I'll likely never sell it.

I've got a Boss sd-1 into a Mooer USGold 012 if something fails. like this.

Hi, Ccunnigham99.
For Live gigs... if the Kemper goes down... what do you have as a backup? I am thinking Atomic Amplifire box... or maybe a stomp
Since all my gigs this summer were outdoors, AC power was not always available, and I wanted to upgrade my backup.
The Strymon Iridium came out, and it sounds great. It has three amp sims and three cabinet IRs for each amp. I tried it and liked it a lot. It would be great if I already had pedals for effects, but I don't.
The Line 6 HX Stomp was about the same size and not a lot more expensive. Very capable, and a lot of functionality crammed into a little box. But I hated the three-button interface. It required so much advanced planning, and there's very little room for spontaneity. That's the same issue as the Boss GT1, except that I have already invested the time in the GT1 and I know it.
As I was torturing myself over this, I happened to wander into my local music store. They had just received a Kemper Stage. Problem solved!
So now - The Kemper Stage is my live rig. If I have a problem before a gig, I can take my Profiler plus Remote. If I have a problem at the gig, I'll use the Boss GT1.
Oh - and for battery power, I bit the bullet and got a Jackery 500 Portable Power unit. This powers my guitar rig and PA (Bose L1 (the new Pro model is on its way).

BluGuitar Amp1 Mercury Edition
It's very small, very light, very loud and sounds very good

I've had my Atomic with me as a back up. Fortunately I've never needed it but it's good enough for a gig.
-
I have a HX stomp but after getting the Kemper it is not as satisfying...I guess a good alternative would be another Kemper stage or maybe even a Mesa Mark V 25 head (almost the same price point)....i'm hearing some really good tones through the cabclone (although opinion is divided)....

Mooer GE300 and pre-amp live, looking to move to double Kemper soon.
-
I have an identical Kemper Stage system as backup.

The Hotone Ampero One.
Hey, its cheap, small, light and has you covered. It really isn't bad once you load some IR's
-
I was thinking more on the line of ...just get through the gig ... maybe a amplifire box with two settings and a tuner...on a small pedalboard

Depending on the styles of music you perform and pedals you may already own - you could be very happy with the Strymon Iridium. It's elegant in its simplicity and it sounds great.

Tech 21 Fly Rig would be a good all in one option.
-
I still have my ancient Mesa V-Twin pedal which was modded to have the clean/crunch button swapped for a footswitch so it has three selectable channels.
-
Hey Alan. I own a V-Twin as well... Van you Post a picture of your mod?
-
will do?
Is yours the first or second version?
the first one was super muddy and didn’t have a trim pot to balance clean and dirty levels. Mine was the firs version to the tech also converted it to V2 by changing something in tone stack and adding the trim pot. Its a really nice amp in a box now. Obviously the speaker simulated output isn’t anything like as good as KPA or IR but it gets the job done in an emergency. -
Actually I am Not sure which version I own. Probably first version...

I have an HX Stomp mainly for the size and cost. It is alright if you find the right IR, but not as good to play as the Kemper.
