Out of nowhere..my Kemper presets have all lost their overdrive..every preset has a different level of clean. None of the settings look off. I've been looking at articles on resetting, but what are some suggestions here?

Hi. First of all: do you have any backup?...
-
No..never have
-
Maybe check your Output settings to see if something might have changed. Should normally be Master Stereo or Master mono.
-
No settings were changed..just happened out of nowhere.
-
You may check at Rig Manager if there is some backup also.

You still want to check. *Something* changed and it's best to eliminate all possibilities no matter how unlikely.
It's like working on cars (or anything electronic/mechanical).....start simple and only get complex once everything else has been accounted for.

Pretty sure your output settings are the issue. You might not hear the amp sim at all. Check that it's set to "Master Stereo" and not something else
-
Or, the amplifier section is Locked in an "Off" state. That would affect all sounds.

Sent in a ticket. All the settings are fine...I have been using, and recording with this head for 4 years. I basically just turn it on and off. No new updates. Every preset sounds like a DI with whatever effects are on it...delay, reverb, etc...but no overdrive, (even out of the headphone jack), and all the Amp/Cab sims are on. Have Sweetwater on it also, so I'll update when I get it straightened out.

Sent Kemper a USB backup from right now, and I have to say, they got right back to me. Unfortunately they don't understand how such hi gain presets are spitting out DI signals on my unit, because they are crazy loud on theirs. No anomalies in my system settings was the last reply, so I just sent a recorded clip to them for further analysis. I think I'm starting to see a reset in my future, if not a factory reset...ugh. And of course....this has never happened to aaaaanybody...
-
With a good backup, a factory reset is no big thing.

Did a factory reset...same issue..performed the back up..same issue....the clean sounds are really good...lol.. but not for a metal guy..this thing is toast...after 4 years? Ugh

I received your backup and video. The backup doesn't show any obvious explanations. The sound in the video is not high gain but also not really clean.
I see that you are feeding S/PDIF OUT Volume at low level (-11.1 dB) to your DAW - it is linked to MASTER VOLUME. Is that intended? What if you crank up S/PDIF Volume to maximum in Output Section? Could it be, that you are mislead by the curve in your DAW looking like a DI signal?

I just did another full factory reset. No SPIDF, just a guitar cord into the input of the head and a headphone plugged into the headphone jack, and it's the same result...pure clean tones with whatever effects are in the preset, but zero overdrive on any preset. I've said it before, I basically have just turned this head on, and off for almost 4 years without making any changes other than updates. The one thing I don't understand is that why are all my loaded presets still showing up after the reset? Am I not doing it properly? It seems pretty straightforward. I'll send you a backup of the head without changing any settings after the factory reset. BTW...thank you for the fast response trying to straighten this out.

In that case there is only defective hardware left although I have no clue which defective part would have such an effect.
I doubt, a low battery in a guitar with active pickups could cause the pure clean tones, that you describe.

Yes, and I pulled a guitar out with passive pups thinking the same thing. We have a guitar with passive pickups, a cord, and a headphone to bring it down to it's most basic setting.

Sorry to not get back sooner, was out of town. Anyway, before sending it back, and after Burkhard telling me that I should not have any of my old presets showing up after doing the factory reset, and launching Rig Manager before the backup, I performed it again, following the steps that I'm pretty sure I followed the first two times. It's not really that difficult, the profiler basically is asking you yes or no questions, and at the end of both the first two attempts, I got "Factory Reset Successful" on the screen.
I guess the third time is the charm as they say, or maybe it's the definition of insanity? Anyway, this time, it fired back up after the backup, and I'm pretty relieved to not have to go through the whole repair process. Thank you Burkhard for your help, and others who lent their ideas on the thread.
