I'm sure there used to be a reasonable rig on the exchange with sitar effects.
See here (it was about three clicks away with using the search function):
µpitch & bit shaper are your best friends for sitar like tones, but don't expect marvels, it's just a trick on a clean tone.
You'll have much better results using a VST.
A wood spoon , fantastic low tech hack
Boys, don't try this at home, at least on a electric , it will force some action on the bridge and maybe disturb your intonation.
I used a small piece of wood on my strat and had interesting but unconsistent results , because a slight millimetre change drastically changes the height of a string and it's tone , simple physics
Strings have not the same height on my strat , so the wood block could not mute all strings evenly ... Piece of cloth muted it all, so soft materials do not work.
...Anyway, I'll probably end up sacrificing a 50€ tele copy , even the height of the string , and here comes my new sitar.

It's really fun ,and much better than anything else I've tried yet !
There are some good online DIY ideas, and a couple of commercial products - try a Google search for "Make a Sitar bridge"

add a low string drone and you're pretty much there

Thx a lot Paul , you're a champ of guitar knowledge

Thx, an ebow or my freq-out will do the trick , I'll definitely experiment more in this area

Sure... but I don't have the remote
Getting back on the original topic, I think the way the strings are buzzing could be emulated on the KPA, with a kind of extreme noise gate and others µpitch , bit shaper & other hacks.
I know the K team is working on an acoustic simulation, so maybe they'll hear our request ?
I belong to the guys who eagerly wait for this new acoustic sim Kemper announced recently.I refuse to believe that it will be "just a simple" acoustic steel string sim.And I believe I am very right to have high hopes for this new SIM to "build me"/sculpture some acoustic string instruments myself. For me personally this new SIM will be the most important new feature since I bought the KPA itself..at least I hope so..
A sitar/tanpura kind of emulation is very high on my "to get" list.I spend hundreds of euros for vst's to use with my fishhman triple play but most of it is completely unusable. Some sounds a "good"..but I hope for better things to come.Here..only the virus-man himself can help!

Using the Freeze function with a modulated Reverb/Delay could also work.

Yep. You'd miss the typical "envelope" of the drone tho
+1 and also anything for synth sounds too !!
