Dang, I can't find it! The thing is, he addressed possible stumbling blocks for adding editing to Rig Manager. I think this is precisely what you're looking for, acroberts.
In my inimitable way, I of course had some monkey-assed workarounds to at least some of the difficulties, none of which I can recall at the moment.
I'm guessing someone will be able to point you to the thread; at the very least, we know Skoczy knows where it's hiding!
