Maybe it makes a difference if you are looking for a home studio solution or for gigging.
I think the most reliable and least time-consuming solution is a Kamper Stage.
If budget is a factor, maybe look for a used MK 1; they're a real bargain on the secondhand market.
I use also MIDI Captain 10 with PySwitch on my player and it works great.
But had also three times a freeze on the Midi Captain, after reboot it was working again.
At home no problem but I had one freeze during a gig. Not so funny.
Advantage on the stage is for me also the bigger display.
I wish MKII comes with even a bigger and colored one like the Morning star MC8 Pro.
Most Midi switches have no or like the Midi Captain a tiny one.
    HTH.

    Yes. Mk1 rack on 8.6.6. Mk2 rack on 13.0.

And before this gets heated (again). I don’t care that it’s ever so slightly different. In a couple of gigs i i will have gotten used to it. It might be software, it might be upgraded hardware (better ad/da converters), it might be something else. But all the settings were identical. I tripple checked. I am on hollidy in france, so i will not take (yet) a debate over this. Firstly because it’s a non-issue for me. Second because some posters simply seemed to get really upset that there was a difference between units ten years and 5 operating systems apart. Thirdly because with my job as a musician and guitar teacher, my wife deserves my attention while on holliday, moreso than grumpy kemper users, since we have busy everyday worklives.

Sorry, that wasn't meant as an attack!
As a software developer, I always think analytically and try to rule out where a difference could come from.
Theoretically, it's conceivable that it could be caused by the old and new firmware.
    Have a nice day!

That is not the case actually. One poster on here reported exactly what people are describing - noticably better quality and reduced latency from his new KPP compared to his other unit(s). This could reflect changes in the analog signal path and/or the converters.

So I asked this question myeself and now I compared my three units:

    1. Kemper Powered Head MK I (11 years old)
    2. Kemper Stage MK I (3 years old)
    3. Kemper Player (1 year old)

All three units have the same latency ~ 3,5 ms (Stage bit faster). On all 3 units I have the same profile loaded with 3 fx pre and 3 fx in post.
But when playing the guitar, it's all about feeling. If you have a good or even better feeling and an even better sound, then enjoy it, no matter where it comes from.

Three gigs and one rehearsal in, with the mk 2.

Very happy. Pick response is definately slightly different than my old mk 1 rack, but now i’ve gotten used to it, it feels great. Perhaps the better latency does play into it. Being exclusively in-ears i feel like i’m “closer to the pick” than before. It’s really hard to explain.

Got too many gigs atm to play around with the fixed fx, but i’m looking forward to it.

Realy wonder is there a difference?

Kemper stated there is no differnce in sound abd also lateny is the same. So how and why could it be different?

Midi Captain Nano 4 or 6

Own the 10 button and it works very good. There is also a custom firmware on github.

Per Leo Gibson, the latency of Mk I is 3.2ms for most uses.

Don't think Mk II changes anything (because he's tested the KPP which is already Mk II).

P.S. While I'd like this to be lower so I can run full wireless (guitar to Kemper ... Kemper to IEM), this is not a bad latency spec and few will notice any difference until they add twice to triple the latency from other sources

    Thanks!

3,2 ms is indeed very good.

I'm not sure if this also applies to the older models (Toaster/Rack)

    Kempers marketing says:

The Kemper Profiler MK2 offers a zero-latency experience for its simultaneous effect blocks. This means users can use up to 20 effects in series without any noticeable delay in the sound.

So I wonder if there are some further improvements.

Happy kemper user here for over 10 years! I use the Toaster in the studio, Stage and Player for the stage.

In Performance mode, I use the same effects in more than three-quarters of all rigs (e.g. same reverb, same delay, same compressor, same chorus).
If I need to, for example, increase or decrease the amount of room in the reverb, then I have to go through all the rigs/slots and adjust them.
This is quite time-consuming. I know about the lock feature, but it's not available on the player. And Lock overwrites effects in other slots which are assigned differently in another rig and should not be changed at all.

Therefore a suggestion that I know from another device (TC Helicon/VL3)

Let's assume you can mark one slot in a performance as a master slot/performance.
In this slot you assign and edit your global stomps (A/B/C/D), global Stack, global effects (X/MOD/DLY/REV).
    Masterperformance:
    Performance 100/Slot1 A = Compressor                 B = Chorus                   C = Wah                       D = Booster Stack.... FX ....

    Usage e.g. in other Performances/Slot e.g.
    Performance 1 / Slot 1: A = global (Compressor) B = empty C = empty D = global (Booster)
    Performance 1/ Slot 2: A = Phaser B = Global (Chorus) C = global (WAH ) D = empty
    Performance 1/ Slot 3: A = global (Compressor)    B = Global (Chorus) C = empty D = Spring Delay

If I now change a setting in the master performance, the setting is applied to the other stomp/FX marked as Global.

That would save me a lot of time.
    What do you think?

    I’m sure it’s possible.

The chance people don’t get confused - especially in performance - is a near-certainty.

That's really nice of you to worry that the user will press the button incorrectly.
What helps against this is called practice. ;)

The player is such a great device and the charm of this device is its compact dimensions but powerful functions.
I use the Stage for regular gigs anyway. But for short performances or practicing, the player is unbeatable.

The possibility to activate or deactivate an effect via Hold, for example, would be sufficient so that I don't have to connect an additional MIDI/Foot controller.

There are already functions that are placed on "hold". Like: Holding a button with "Slot select" function activates "Morph momentary", also "Effect Buttons I-IIII" etc. do have a "momentary" function when being hold instead of being single pressed.

Therefore it can not have additional functionality.

It can not have additional functionality cause it’s not implemented yet?

Short press assignment is already implemented. But it would be a lot more flexible if you could assign double or long hold also to footswitches.

If you connect more than one PROFILER to Rig Manager simultaneously, the Editor area including signal chain, store buttons, and other controls can only be logically linked to one of those at a time. Otherwise it would cause all kinds of logical conflicts. System Settings are for eample only available, while the Editor is linked to a Player. Locking is only available, while the Editor is linked to any other model.

You can select the "Active Device" in the PROFILER pull down menu.

I suggest, you change the title once again.;)

    Thanks a lot for feedback!!!
I was not aware about the "Active Device" menu.
What I'm a bit confused about is:

    • I have both devices connected (player and toaster)
    • I choose as active the device the toaster and choose a profile on the toaster, with my default FX settings on the toaster POST AMP:
X: Pure Booster MOD: <emtpy> Delay: Single Delay and Reverb: Naturals Reverb
All four FX's are locked (thats cause if I load new profiles I want to have the same / my settings)
    • Now I Click to the Player (Active device is still toaster!)
    • I am able to drop a new profile1 e.g. to player window on Slot 2:1 (FX's are not changed) and Click Replace Rig
    • ... drop a new profile2 e.g. to Slot 2:2 and Click Replace Rig
    • ....and so on
    • If I switch to the player as active device, all is stored correctly on the player (with my default FX settings)

Is the behavior intended by the RigManager?
For me it' what I wanted (the effects remain for editing locked).

Which title would be more appropriate?
