I wonder if anyone of you remenbers that awesome rockman sound in More than a feeling (by Boston, 1976), made by the fabulous Tom Scholz. I wonder too if the Kemper profiler is capable of reproducing that sound in a rig. So what do you need to achieve this amazing sound? Is it possible to get there?

Start with the Rig Exchange:
There are at least 19 rigs there, including four of them with Five Star ratings,

Thank you Paults! Great! I'll try them all!

Hi paults, I don't know how they are named in RM Exchange but with name given BOSTON I only see 5 with a max rating of 1 and with name given More than I get only 3 with a max rating of 1. I don't see 5 star ratings. My RM is up to date (3.0.136.16374) and so is my Profiler OS (7.5.4.19312 [Aug. 2020]). Any suggestion I appreciate.

Try "Rockman" or "Sustainor"

Have a look at Michael Britt's Rig Pack which comes for free with the Kemper. You'll find the "Rock Woman" in there which is obviously profiling the Rockman (more of those are in Michael's Pack No. 3). Can't tell you how close this is as I am not into that kind of sound but you can easily give it a try from the Rig Pack. Enjoy

Top Jimi has a Boston Profile Pack which sounds awesome....https://topjimi.com/products/legendary-tones-series-boston-pack

Upvote on the Top Jimi Boston Pack. I ended up getting the entire legendary tones back with
Queen, Led Zeppelin, etc and they are all excellent! -
Just for interest: wasn't "More than a Feeling" recorded "pre Rockman" ?

Yes - he modified or built his own preamps/EQ/stompboxes/amps to get those sounds.

Thank you all guys! Great. I'll get to them all the way...!

+1 on the MB Profile... it nails it for me
-
Listen to RockmanCentralBob as he is the Boston man!!
Tom's sound to me is a good example of where the sound on its own is OK but magical in the mix...

Man, where that snare drum comes in is one of my favorite moments in music.

Topjimis Boston pack is really cool, but it sounds nothing like the Rockman, He uses Marshalls. Check out the vid. If you want Rockman sounds, you may not get them from the Kemper, especially the chorus. Rockman units are very special pieces of music history. I wish I still had my Stereo Echo and Delay/Chorus units.

Isn't funny.... I had the original rockman and a half rack unit from the Tom Scholz distortion, just to have THE sound. It was in the time before DAWs and modelling imo the first good out-of-the box sound for easy recording of distortion tones. Compared with my first POD it was flat and non flexible. Now with the KPA we have at least a ton of great and open sounding profiles... but I searched for that flat rockman sound too but I never regreted of selling the original units. Greetings from Hudi

Just for fun I took out my old Rockman II B from my "good-to-have-box" .....
inserted 8 AA batteries and it sprung to life
Everything works except "Echo" ..... ( Good when profiling ? )
Tried to profile "Clean 1" without chorus, but no good result
Maybe the built in compressor is to blame
Profiling "Dist" went better
Uploaded to RE , rig name "Rockman II B Dist 2"
Check it out and hear if it´s good or crap
Cheers !

I tweaked this one: acousticMODEL 320 Pbass01 on Rig Exchange and found me a perfect tone for the intro of this song. Comments are welcome. https://soundcloud.com/theplayer-3/more-than-a-feeling. Using a Gibson Les Paul JP 1995.
