Yeah, that's quite an endorsement. Even after Pat Metheny and so many others, this is probably the pinnacle of recognition when it comes to guitar tones. Congratulations to Mr Kemper and team!
Pretty cool to think there are now profiles out there of Mark's actual personal amp collection, and that each and every one of our own Kempers could technically run them and sound exactly the same.
I mean... it's never going to happen (and Mark and his guitar techs have every right to keep those signature tones to themselves), but we can dream, right?

LOL Brilliant job, Robrecht.
-
Dirty rotten trick.

You can read up on it here:

Two things:
1. Mark yknopfler is a very smart man.
2. This will be a very long thread.

They're passing through my home town in a month. I need a USB drive and some strong liquor.

You also need a diversion, which requires an accomplice.
*ahem* When and where? -
Looks like he's running 3 rack units.
How will you know which one to make a backup from? This diversion's gonna have to be a good-and-lengthy one...
-
I just, um, happened to be studying that particular area of the Kempers in that rack and noticed that, while the USB ports are (tantalizingly) empty and unobstructed, there is something that looks like a 6.35-3.5mm adapter stuck in the headphone jack. I wonder if it's meant to keep Mark (or his roadies) from doing what we've all done at least once: plug his guitar into it and wonder why there's no sound.
-
If that is the case, it's good thinking on Mark's or his staffs' part, and certainly great thinking and investigating on your part IMHO, Robrecht.
This could become the default M.O. for live use I reckon, what with alcohol's often being somewhere in the mix and usually no need for the headphone socket on stage...

I admit to nothing.

I have one of those adapters in mine, but I just left it in because I was playing with headphones so much.
So pumped on Mark’s smart move!
Someone get Money for Nothing profile!!!

Someone get Money for Nothing profile!!!
Indeed Tommy. I know the one:
"Profile for Nothing (And Your Picks for Free)"
-
The profiles would be great...in your dreams indeed
-
I would welcome his profiles, but practice and a good basic Fender profile will get you closer to his sound than any magic profile.

I would gladly help fund this for you.. ✊

I don’t want Mark’s profiles. Having access to his exact sounds would only deliver the final crushing blow to my delusions that I could sound like that with his rig. Even with his rig I would still sound as bad as I always do while plugged into any old piece of garbage he would still sound like Mark Knopfler. I say keep his profiles secret and let me continue to dream. Ignorance is bliss

I've known about this for some time but kept quiet about it. He called me about 18 months ago as he knew I had a Kemper and asked me about it. I told him it was great but I'd always use a real amp live if I could. About 6 months later, end of last year we were in his British Grove studio working together and he told me he was going to use the Kemper Live. I tried to persuade him not to LOL I said it's your band, you can be as loud as you like , it's only us session musicians that have to keep the levels down for the 'Artist'
I'm not 100% sure what he's using exactly for each song but he has two of my 'Dumble' profiles on there.

Totally agree, that finger style and phrasing will make me look like as accomplished as Jason Donovan on guitar...
With my tennis racket I sound identical to him...but if I had his profiles I of course stand in for him as a dep...NOT!
