Spoiler alert: I love my kemper!!
Been a long time boutique cleanish tube amp user, I use my amps as a clean platform for drive pedals and fx. Long time tube amp superiority complex kinda guy, major Line 6 hater =) Not the type to go buy something because it's new or trendy, need to hear it first.
2 weeks ago I had a contract gig at a big church out here on the west coast and they were running kempers so I thought "why not I'll try it out," but needless to say after I loaded up the Morgan dual 40 profile the guy had made using a Palmer PDI-03 as a cab/DI my mind was blown.
So I immediately went on my phone and bought an unpowered rack Kemper (I always use my 1964 IEMs on stage). It's now been about 10 days and 4 gigs later and I'm totally in love with this thing. It's seriously amazing. I profiled my Jackson Scarlett 30 and Bad Cat Hot Cat 30 using my Palmer PGA-04 that I have been using live for years, and the profiles are literally indistinguishable from the real thing. Obviously not going to get the feedback from a real amp and cab being on stage but the kind of gigs I play run IEMs and amps off stage anyway so that doesn't matter to me.
So anyway I just wanted to post my experience on here and thank the good folks who created this technological marvel. My entire rig is now just my guitars, pedalboard, and a 4 space rack unit for my surge protector and kemper, and my tone is better than ever. Love it.
