Traditional amp channel foot switches are typically latching type (press on, press off).
Single and Dual Switches of Other Brands
The PROFILER requires so-called “momentary” and “normally open” switches. Channel switches for tube amplifiers are not compatible with the PROFILER, as they use a latching mechanism that would only trigger their assigned switching function every other hit. Single switches are connected via a TS cable, and dual switches via a TRS cable.
Select “Mono Switch” or “Dual Switch” Mode on the corresponding "Pedal” page in Pedal Settings of PROFILER Stage or System Settings of all other PROFILER variants and assign a switching function with the soft knob labeled “Switch Tip”. If “Dual Switch” is selected, another switching function can be assigned with soft knob labeled “Switch Ring”. If your external switch allows to change its polarity (e.g. Boss® FS-5 and FS-6), set it to normally open. The switching function should be triggered as soon as you hit the button. Wrong polarity implies, that the switching function gets triggered, when you release the button. Especially if you intend to control Looper Start and Looper Stop
with the external switch, wrong polarity can lead to odd results as both hitting and releasing the buttons have their meaning. Don’t forget to press “Calibrate” and trigger each switch once.

Also just to be clear, a TS cable is a regular guitar cable, but a TRS cable is stereo, like this one?

If for each "performance" I only wanted to switch between 2 profiles, e.g. "clean" and "distortion", what would be the minimum device I would need to do this?
Is that exactly what that Boss FS-6 switch does? Just switch between profiles A & B?

The switch doesn’t really matter. As long as it is non-latching it should work. I have a really cheap little dual switch I bought for £15 on ebay that works perfectly well.
In terms of what it does this is determined by what you want it to do. In the Pedal Settings page in system menu you can select what type of pedal you are connecting (single, dual, exprssion) and what you want it to do.
Does the Boss FS-7 work with the player? Does anybody know?
And the Ampero Hotone switch does that one work i have seen some pictiures where the Hotone Ampero switch is connected to the player. But in another thread Burkhard says that the Hotone has normally closed switches. Which Burkhard says is should be normally open switches to function well.
I want to program them for bank up/down.
The Boss FS-7 looks cool but the Ampero Hotone is much cheaper.

I can tell you that the Boss FS-6 works with the Kemper, and both have momentary modes, so it should work. However, they both need power to operate, which can be extra hassle.

The power is not an issue to me i can make that work with the delivered Y-cable and connect it to the powersupply of the kemper player. It consumes only 25 mA

My FS-6 has been modded to use a power supply instead of a battery, and after just testing it with the Kemper now, it won't work without the power attached.
It could very well be different for stock FS-6 units, and certainly for FS-7. So I shouldn't have assumed a power requirement for either, sorry.
I asked this before together with a lot other questions but here again:
Could the Ampero Hotone footswitch FS1 be easily modified from normally closed to normally open states by some soldering job? Do the switches inside offer a pin to solder to a normally open state?

Wow! €66 is extremely expensive for that switch. I bought this one ages ago and it would be impossible for the Mission one to be more robust.

Yeah you are right for two switches it is extremely expensive, however the one you show is latching switching
