Or a Custom 24 Floyd
If they could get rid of the doves I might consider buying a PRS.

Never thought I would prefer Dots overs Doves.

Thats the main bit I like about PRS guitars...:)
I have tried a few in the past and just don't like the necks. Also for me (for some reason) I don't find them that pretty - the tops are so glossy they don't look natural to me. I want to like them but just don't....
The only PRS's I liked was the Paul Allender and Torero.
So the search has moved on...Im really after a Charevl purple phaze, spoke to my local and very trusted luthier and came up with 4 options:
1) Find a Purple phaze with a FR and change the hardware ( hardware is chrome and I want black). This is the easiest but it means waiting....I don't like waiting
2) I know where to buy a second handhard tail and have an FR retro fitted - scary stuff to start routing a perfectly good guitar
3) Buy a regular black Charvel and have a quilt vaneer added and stained to my requirements - again very risky but kinda exciting!
4) Ditch this idea and go back to trying to find a Musicman Axis in purple - not seen one for maybe 3 years now and prices have shot up
Ohh, and still got to mention it to my wife.....
Wow, that looks like a winner, but I bet it would blow the budget.

Guy,
option 2 isn’t scary. Any competent luthier should be able to do it with their eyes shut.
Option 4 would definitely get my vote but as you say, might not be that easy to find.
I bought a 2006 PRS SE Standard 22 a couple of month ago. Now, with Fishman Fluence Pickups it‘s very easy to play, lightweight, versatile… love it!

The only issue with the purple sunsets is Im after HH config. and I think they are only HSS...but that first one is nice!
I'm liking the ideas!

My luthier was confident, I mean it was scary for me
I looked for so long for a musicman and only seen one that ticked all the boxes but it was many years ago. I look every so often...

... not knowing your wife but if I told mine I was searching for what you want she'd take over the search and come back with this. ... she can be a bit frugal...

I had seen this and its nice.
Being picky, I don't like the shark fin inlays or the Jackson headstocks...If I could put the Adrian Smith neck on one (not played one but assume they play well)...that would be a definite contender!!!
My wife would definitely appreciate saving some money though...having said that, she will expect me to sell one in return...hmmm.
As soon as I see a shark fin inlay I look away for something else. Never liked it either.
I'll try a couple of suggestions

Fab ideas! That jackson is a headstock away from perfection - I might consider overlooking that as I love it!
The EVH is close but again.
I can't help looking for more....

You keep going! It really needs to be a quilt maple or burl top i.e. not a solid colour.
Interesting color
Good price if you can wait 4-5 weeks
