You must include the musician's stage presence. 99 times out of 100 the average audience will be more entertained by somebody that has great stage presence playing through a gorilla 10 Watt amp then somebody that's staring at their feet with a camo hat and Hawaiian shirt through a $10,000 rig.
So true. Live is more of giving a great performance ppl will remember than playing perfect. A guy I worked with, he wanted me to follow with him and listen to his brother's band playing live with other bands. I said ok. The other guys in the band were ok on stage but his brother? He didnt look at the audience. He turned his head to the the amp the whole time. Wtf is that? So yes a bad or strange performance can be remembered too.
