I wanted to leave the cable for the remote in the rehearsal room and was looking for a good network cable for home use (and to be used as a spare for gigs).
I ordered this cable from Cordial and like it a lot. Very good built quality, flexible cable (better than the original one that came with the remote).
It's works great and I can recommend it!

Looks great!
I also want to get one as a spare for gigs.
I've noticed the original cable that come with the remote is a Cat5e and the one you ordered is Cat5. Is there any difference between both cables? Can I use both with no problem?

Will Variax cable do the trick? If I remove the locking connector from one side of course?

I already own some of those. -

I did that with a leftover Variax cable, and it worked fine with The Remote.

Hmm...I'm not an network cable expert. No idea what the difference is.
But it works with my Kemper...that's all I can say.

You can use a Neutrik NE8MC connector to add an Ethercon connector to one end of a regular ethernet cable.

[Blocked Image: http://www.mouser.com/images/neutrik/images/210_t2_1421214602.jpg]I made a 1U patch panel that moves almost every rear connection up to the front, So I added an ethercon panel connector to that... so I have a locking connector on both ends. and just plan to use a Variax VDI cable... Now all I need is a Remote to go along with it. I originally ordred the remote bundle with the rack KPA... so I made this panel in preparation for that and did not add MIDI connectors to the Patch Panel. My goal was to not have to remove the rear of the rack case and connect everything from the front.
(I'll add that you can't just remove the ethercon fitting from a Variax VDI cable to work at the KPA end... the RJ45 end doesn't have the locking tab on it any longer.)

As far as I understand it, Cat5e cable works the same way as Cat5 so you can use either for the KPA Remote. Cat5e cables are wired exactly the same but are more tightly wound in pairs to reduce interference and crosstalk on networks data traffic.

With an with flexible instrument cable like jacket (dual jacketed usually) and locking Ethercon connectors... a bit more to it than just "a network cable" , think of it as a rugged version... $29.00 for a 20' Ethercon network cable is not too shabby.. they go up in price quickly... Mission Engineering sells their 20' version for $40

Flexible network cable on Amazon (5 meters) > 4-5 $ > works great!
If you need it: "Locking Ethercon" on Amazon > 3 $ (Neutrik)8 $ for a good, flexible network cable (5 meters) with Neutrik Ethercon vs. 29 $ for a good, flexible network cable with Neutrik Ethercon!
Again:

I think that most "normal" Cat5 cables should do the job. for home use, i have a 1.5m cable which i had spare from a printer.
For heavy use on stage or when often stepped on in a rehearsal room, i would prefer a slightly more heavy-duty version. But even under the stress of being carried around being, stretched, stepped on and bent even the normal type cable i use for my laptop has never let me down.
The only reason i would prefer another cable is the stiffness of the network cables which makes them somewhat annoying.

> 29$ for a network cable?Do you speak about the Variax cable I gave in example? Well, I already have two of them because I bought two Variax guitars in the past. It may be overkill for the remote but when used with a variax it is very solid and reliable beleive me. Now, if you can built a really similar one for less it's good for you!
What I know is that my Variax backup cable is now also the backup for my remote for $0. Even cheaper than yours!

Do you speak about the Variax cable I gave in example? No.

No.
Cool.
-
Agreed.that's what I did. For 5 m it works perfectly. A 10 m version made the lights on the KFC dimmed (obviously due to a lowgrade cable)
-
Sorry for reviving this. Can you recommend any (cheapo) 10m cable which is working? The Kemper one is way too long for most of our gigs as well as for rehearsals plus I need ethercon on both ends (patchpanel).
