In ping pong or other delay that has clock left and clock right settings in note values, can I set the tempo in BPM somehow?
I'm not used to tap tempo....I'm not a machine and I'd prefer knowing it's really at 120 bpm and not off slightly cause my tapping isn't perfect
Way to set delay as BPM instead of foot tap?

KPA can receive Midi Tempo, in studio you can use a keyboard or computer to send it. If you need it live I assume you're playing with a click (normally midi).
-
In the rig menu you can set global tempo in BPM. Tap delay will be set accordingly.
-
Correct, Doc, but if they set it like that the drummer has by sure a click in his monitor. Doing it via MIDI he can automate the changes between songs.
-
Oh I see.
If the whole band is 'slave to the rhythm' this makes perfect sense.
I figured the only the drummer is using a click.
If the songs have a pre- defined tempo you can store a BPM tempo with the rig.
That's maybe more convenient than a drummer sending his click to the KPA. -
Like that it would be difficult to sync the tempo from the KPA with the one from the drummer, they would be both 120Bpm but offset....
-
No, if the drummer keeps his 120 I'll keep mine...
I speak of normal FX like delay only, of course.
Being controlled by a band's master click is only mandatory if there are sequenced loops going on. -
That's my point: never seen a drummer not playing faster towards the end...

ditto... which is why I like to be able to tap.

Hi guys
I'm new to KPA. I tried one for 5 day (my local retailer is so awesome) and I loved it, but when it comes to effects I'm still not sure what it's capable of.
I play in a metal band and our intention is to keep our live sound as close to the record as possible. Our drummer plays with a click track together with our backing track. Off course, our songs have different tempos and I need to set a different BPM to every song and tap tempo is not an option.
I'll be using a midi foot controller with my Kemper and I'm basically going to set it up like this (example):
Song 1 - Bank 1:
1: Rythm sound, no fx
2: Clean sound, fx @ 110 bpm
3: Rythm sound, fx @ 110 bpm
4: Lead sound, fx @ 110 bpmSong 2 - Bank 1:
5: Rythm sound, no fx
6: Clean sound, fx @ 96 bpm
7: Lead sound, fx @ 96bpmIs this possible with the Kemper? I'm looking to keep my rig simple with only the Kemper, a tuner and a midi board. I think that the effects sound good enough, so hopefully I can sell my G-force and keep it simple!

Welcome!
You can have a BPM setting per rig, which is what you want, or a global setting which more for the users who tap at the beginning of a song.
So: no problem. -
Great news! I guess i can find out how with the manual
Thanks!

Follow-up: There's no gap/delay when you switch rigs/patches/presets (what do you call it?) with a midi foot controller, right?
-
There should be no gap but it seems to depend on the foot controller. I read something about this here but I can't remember exactly where. With my Roland FC-300 there's no gap when switching rigs. Also the newer firmwares of the KPA provide faster rig switching via MIDI.

My RJM mastermind results in a delay between presets... I'm going to try a FCB 1010, with either UNO4Kemper chip or standard Uno chip... we'll see how that goes (still waiting for chip(s) in the mail)!
I use a Visual Sound Time Bandit to dial in BPM - via one of the 1/4" stereo footswitch inputs on KPA. It's velcroed to top of rack case for easy adjustment. I haven't found anywhere where you can input BPM as a value and/or displayed but I haven't really looked... I think the FCB1010 with 2 way midi might display it on the footcontroller, but not as a value apparently, just some blinking lights...
this is from the UNO 4 Kemper manual:
5.3 Taptempo
When you have configured one of the stomp switches as “taptempo” switch, tapping that switch will
modify the Profiler tempo. This tempo is displayed on the floorboard by blinking the 3 small dots of
the 7-segment display" -
And Henkebarn... you can leave the tuner home
