Greetings,
The Kemper has many outputs, it has a "direct" output for dry tracking, and for the wet it has a stereo pair XLR, no need for a DI Box
I use the XLR direct to my interface as well as the "direct" 1/4 to my interface for the dry/reamp track.
Hope this helps. I am still trying to learn all the cool things this Powered Toaster can do.
Recently, i have been getting distortion from my direct out, so going to post my own question on how to get that taken care of.
I must have changed a setting I was not supposed to.

Hi, Tomrip.
No, you don't need a DI box for recording a clean guitar signal.
Check out the Kemper Main Manual (second last link below). Read the section about OUTPUT (starts on page 111). This tells you all your options for routing signals to the outputs on your Profilers including how to send a clean signal to the Direct Output.

hey, thank you so much for this guide. i do have a quick question. we play hard rock, and i was always told to record a track panned left and a track panned right. use a different guitar amp and cab on each one. then i see people talking about stero recording. is it better to record 2 tracks in stereo, or tracks in mono. i hope this is not a dumb question.

I would go for double tracking 2 mono guitar tracks.

Like Wheresthedug said. After you get comfortable with that technique then you can move on to stereo double tracking (which is an art in itself) and then again you can go to quad tracking.
As for panning. Some prefer hard left and right, and some prefer 85% left and right. It really depends on what your ears tell you and how it sounds in the mix with delays and reverb, etc. I do both because I like to experiment.
I think most metal is hard panned and hard rock is closer to 85%.
