I have had a Profiler Powerhead for 4 years and after a bit of fiddling I am very satisfied with the sounds, which I have continuously optimized over the years, tested live. Today I had the stage come to me, connected it and copied the head directly onto it via USB stick, via restore. We started looking forward to one of my favorite backings - what a disappointment! The rigs now sound extremely treble-heavy, thin and lifeless compared to the head. I have both stage and head on the same mixer, completely linear, the difference between the exact same rigs is dramatic. What's going on there? Does anyone know advice?
Mixing Desk broken: Copy Head to Stage - sounds dramatically different

wow! Not sure I did the same just copied from usb stick
Everything sounded the same and I could use them interchangeably

What are you listening to both of them through?
Also, maybe try "Init Globals" on the Stage to make sure you are starting fresh.
-
Same software version and global settings on both?

Same software version and global settings on both?
No. The Stage is 7, the Head is 8. How can I update the firmware to 8?

Install Rig Manager (latest version) on a Mac/PC.
https://www.kemper-amps.com/downloads/12/Rig-Manager
Connect the Stage via USB to that computer. Launch Rig Manager and then accept the invitation to upgrade the Stage OS from current v7 to new 8.5.8 from Rig Manager.

Are the global settings not adopted during the restore from the USB stick?

They are with the exception of external pedal assignments (the Stage offers 4 sockets, while other nmodesl have 2 sockets plus Remote 4) and Monitor Output source (the Stage has stereo MONITOR OUT by design, while for other models its optional).
-
Did you use the Monitor Output on your Stage?
-
I used monitor out, with no problem

I imagine CK is trying to work out the cause of the OP's reported different tone for the same rig on the stage (compared with the older model profiler)- potentially filters or imprints active on the Stage monitor out could be the clue.

My mistake! One channel of the mixer was broken (it's good that I found out now and not at the next gig!). Now both devices are identical, including the firmware. Many thanks for the help anyway!

glad you got it sorted
