I use DRs or GHS Boomers 10-46 and change them before important recordings/gigs. On acoustic, I use Elixir Nanoweb 11-?
What strings do you use?

2/2000 = 1 in 1000.
I've bought 6 packs, and all were rusted. Granted, I bought them all-at-once, so they were probably from the same batch, but still, such is my statistically-anomalous life.
Thats crazy. Did you call them?
-
Na. My brother purchased them for me online and told me they wouldn't take returns; I've lost contact with him since and haven't heard from him in a year.
Thanks for asking 'though, mate.
Once these 10s are worn-out-and-broken, I might try the 9s for a while before I (depending on how they go) switch back to the D'Addarios, which, if I do, will be 9s, having used the XL110s for decades. Either way, I'm hoping 9s will open up a new world for me as I've always struggled with 10s due to long-term-damaged hands.

Interesting to know that Paul Gilbert uses 8-38 EB and of course Billy Gibbons uses 7's. My hands are very sore these days so I'm gonna try the NYXL 8's.
-
Gonna try these tonight.
Usually do 10-46 NYXL, so it should be an interesting change...[Blocked Image: https://s5.postimg.cc/6v84orql3/strings.jpg]

I believe Prince used DR's

Bear in mind that I and at least one other in this thread found the NYs to be stiffer-feeling (tougher to fret and bend), Shawn, so whichever gauge you'd normally imagine would feel right might need to be lowered by 1 in the case of these (awesome-sounding) strings... IMHO.

Never tried them. Will report back

I just restrung my bass with Rotosounds.
I gotta give these a shot. The Billy Sheehan set.
-
I love DR strings. I had a few sets get rusty years back (the humidity is really high here) and I took a gamble and contacted them to see if they'd do anything. They arranged for a full replacement of about 20 sets. Apparently the packaging manufacturer didn't use the anti-corrosion stuff for a period.
Their new Veritas for acoustic and electric are both fantastic and last way longer than other uncoated strings. Plus they come with spare unwound strings.
-
Elixir Nanoweb. I'm really lazy to swap in new strings and these last 3-4 times longer than normal ones.
10-52 for open C#, 10-56 for 7-string.

DR pure blues 10-46 has been my favorite set for years. You cannot cut rhe strings before putting them in, but otherwise great. I've also used rhe tite fit 9.5 sets with a Strat.
-
I am usually on d'addarios EXL120+. they are 9.5-44
I found them to have a good feel for vintage tones, and they don't get much wear too quick. -
EB Slinky 10-46 here

They're my brother's favourites, CJ.
He reckons his LP never sounded better, and used to rave about the tone all the time (haven't seen him in a long time, but I assume he's still using them).
Only difference is he uses 11s.
-
11s are a bit too much for my fingers, Nicky! By the way, try 9.5 sets if 10s are too much for you. Not very different from 10s but a tad easier for bending. I can't imagine myself playing 8s! I like to attack them hard now and then. But I 'm more a blues player than a rock player, and metal or progressive rock players can get away with 8s more easily.
-
Yeah, I hear ya man. He uses the 11s 'cause bending is easy on his vintage LP, and for the tone of course, not that it'd make much difference to me.
I thought about 9.5s, but honestly my hand problems are not-trivial in their effect on strength and repetitive movement, so I reckon it'll have to be at least 9s, maybe even 8s one day.

9/46 Hybrid slinky Ernie Ball for me , tried lots some other stuff, but nothing can really match the tone and bend-ability of these strings to me. They also last very long for me.

For guitars:
Acoustic nylon Martin M120 028-043 High Tension
Acoustic steel: Elixer 80/20 bronze but different gauges depending on guitar model (10-46 to 12-54)
All electrics: GHS boomers but different gauges depending on guitar model (most are GBL 10-46 ,some strats 09-42 to ES335 11-49)I really like the Elixers on acoustic, looking for something better for a nylon string. The wounded string don't last long on this set
For electric I prefer the GHS after years of EB and D'addario. -

Been doing some recording. I stick by my earlier assessment. Very controllable bounce and zing compared to the strings I was using earlier. -
