same here
buying a lot
but having a lot of fun -
Must admit I went a little crazy buyin profiles when I first got my Kemper.
I now have a solid collection that covers many genres. I still browse through RE and try new ones all the time....but I always keep informed of new commercial rig packs coming out. -
It's a gear-slut addiction... and I have it, but thankfully my meagre budget keeps it in check.
-
One day after receiving my K , I buy a lot and download on RE like crazy. I will then choose my favorite ones. Then I'll fine tune them according to my guitars and pick-ups. Maybe after that I will try to profile some from scratch
-
I found what I was looking for early on, haven’t purchased any profiles in a couple of years.
-
You're a rare beast, Frodebro.
We have a few on the forum who've managed to do this; I can't imagine how. Such control and discipline.

Gee it's very different here LOL I just took all my credits on my Paypal account to buy sounds... lol and it's only the beginning.
-
Yup, that's how we mere mortals roll.
Something I've found is that once you really like a Profiler, there's a temptation to automatically buy everything he does. I give in every time to 3 in particular, but I won't name them 'cause the thread will be moved to a different subforum.

I never started buying profiles!
I like my own ones better than any of commercials ones - in all modesty! -

It’s the same thing as quitting drinking, really-you just have to go into it knowing that you’ll be fine as long as you just never have number one, because once you have that first one it’s off to the races until the wheels come off. -
Gear slut addiction here....I can’t help myself. $20 or so a week for a new set of profiles isn’t too much, I used to spend far more on CD’s a week and listening to new profiles is far more satisfying. You never know when you might need that extra sound?

FWIW
I still buy profiles, mostly because they are such a bargain. A short while ago I was spending hundreds on plugins that don't sound nearly as good. None of them come even close to the KPA for sound.
That said, I'll usually buy a Rig Pack and use 2 or 3 profiles out of them all. They're trying to cover as much territory as possible, and some of them just don't fit what I need. But $15 to $30 for the ones that work is totally worth it.
A lot of the value is in the setup of the amp. For example MBritt has a real touch for setting an amp up, and he's seemed to find the right formula for miking a profile. ToneJunkies uses the built in effects to great effect. Most commercial Profilers have their strengths.
A lot of the Profiles on RE are brilliant, but you have to do a lot of digging. I use about 50/50 free and commercial profiles.

Yes I agree , 15$ - 30$ for a new amp sound (or very close) , without troubles with the tubes and carrying, is definitely a bargain LOL

I found a Horn of Plenty on the RE.
I've been riding the rails like a hobo on there.
You guys have helped me hone in on my sensibilities for amps.
For the price of a righteous buzz you can own some beautiful rigs.
Time to buy some stuff.
It's all good! -
Just bought another pack a couple of days ago. I don't buy a lot, but it sure is fun discovering that you like amp xyz that you never thought you would or could try.
Also playing single coils more now so different rigs are welcomed. -
Good grief, I bought a commercial everything pack and maxed out to a 1000 rigs without even importing the entire pack. I had about 350 rigs already in rig manager before I started importing the everything pack. Its gonna take weeks if not months to go thru the samples to weed out which ones I want to keep. Kemper needs to expand the amount of rigs I can import past a grand!
-
Just keep, sort and audition them in RM, mate; that's what it's for.
Put the resulting keepers or regular go-tos in the KPA.
