Good find! Now that is a deal, to bad I already have 2...........
-
I just bought a couple of drum beaters on Musiciansfriend. No Stupid Deal though. They don't ship the Dunlop stuff to Singapore though, what a pity. I need two expression pedals.
-
It was a One Day sale, anyway.
-
That deal also happened several weeks ago. Bought it, then sent it back - just too big and heavy for my tastes.
-
grabbed one - i figure if its too big, then http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr…+dvp1xl&_sop=15

I almost bought one on the sale till I found the weight. Way too heavy.. I thought an aluminum body would be lighter then the standard cast one

I had a completely different view from you guys though. I was looking for a pedal that could take a beatiing. Couldn't get it on sale, so I paid full price at a local store here, but I liked what I saw.
It is definitely oversized, at almost a foot. But that was something I found desirable in an expression pedal. I also tried out the DVP-X Mini at the store and found that I didn't like the feel of a shorter pedal.
What I like about this pedal is that the construction was solid and the pedal remained at whatever position I left it at. I had a huge problem with a Source Audio Midi Expression pedal I bought and decided to retire it, because it couldn't hold its position even if I tightened its tension to maximum. Don't get me started on that pedal, I can just advise anyone on this forum not to buy their midi expression pedal, the quality of construction just doesn't handle heavy use and I'd not buy it again.
I found the weight too high as others did, but for a chunk of metal almost a foot long and about four inches wide, what do you expect? I'll just grin and bear it and hope that the Dunlop doesn't fail me in a short period of time.
One pro is that it looks great, I mean really good for an expression pedal. The surface is awesome and the whole thing looks so solid like it could last forever.
Some pictures if anyone is interested in this pedal.

Tested it with the Kemper and I liked the response. The feel of the pedal is great and the response was also great. I didn't try it direct but through my Gordius floorboard and even though it wasn't hooked up directly to the Kemper, the response to pedal movements was great.
Quite happy with it. Definitely something to check out at a store if you're looking for an expression pedal to go with the Kemper.

got mine in today. I dont find it too big. Its heavy but not ridiculous. I really like the build and feel.

word of caution. Dont overtighten the big screw in the back for more grip on the pedal. If you do and try to rock the pedal, it grips the axle stronger than some screws that grip the axle to the pedal (rather than the base). It gets difficult to explain how it all works, but the point is if you want more grip, test after each quarter turn and dont expect to be able to get to very tight. Youll end up with a completely floppy pedal and have to take it apart to fix it

How tight does the footboard get? I got my as a store display and I couldn't rotate the screw at the back anymore clockwise. It stays at heel position or wherever I put it, but I'm wondering if it's possible for the tension to be a little higher. -
my screw is now relatively loose but im comfortable with the tension. If you cant turn anymore, something is wrong. It should be extremely tight before reaching that point.
One thing i noticed is that you can get the pedal to stay in position by tighting the axle screws while the pedal is slid as far to the right or left as possible. So rather than the friction method being the plastic grip thats adhered to the base and the screws that connect to the pedal, its simply the edge of the pedal grinding against the base.
So maybe thats whats going on for you. See if its grinding off paint on one side.

It's quite a comfortable tension, so I have no problem with it. But since mine came from the store like that, I'm wondering if it is possible to determine how tight it could actually go? Basically a bit worried about some kind of abuse that has resulted in it having less tension.

my advice is to test after each time you tighten and tighten only a small amount at a time. If you have to force at all to move it, you may pop those screws off the axle.
