Because those of us who love them are still alive -
How DOES Procol Harum stay relevant 47 years on?
1) The CBS Sunday Morning Show (last Sunday) did a profile of Laurens Hammond, and featured "Whiter Shade of Pale".
2) "Whiter Shade of Pale" featured a Leslie with the organ.
3) CK made a point to put a Leslie in the Kemper.
4) Canterbury Tales references in their lyrics
5) Former member Robin Trower's sound (including a Univibe) has been a quest for several forum members.

Good one!
I read that Lennon loved that song so much he played it over and over and it therefore was (so said Paul) the inspiration for "A Day in the Life".
MY favorite use of that song (White Shade..) was in the movie "The 10th Kingdom" where the soundtrack played it in a mushroom forrest. You were supposed to walk straight through but the talking mushrooms wanted you to stop, rest a bit, and eat them, sit and talk and fall asleep and so be consumed by the forrest. The music really portrayed that sense of lost time perfectly, that mushroom "trip".

I miss the 60s ...
-
As for me, I love the way the song is managed\thought of in "The Commitments"
-
Gianfranco, don't you ever sleep?
-
I've only had 2 unremembered personal years in the 60's, but I've made up for it in spades!
I admit that I've been more into the music and less the lyrics as a child, so actually hearing the meaning in the lyrics now adds another dimension.
Although I CAN do without Lennon's ' I'll love you till the cows come home ' lol

Gianfranco, don't you ever sleep?
Just woken up, dude And it's a beautiful sunny day in Rome. In a few hours playing at the Fiddler's Elbow, the first Italian Irish pub

So your day is based on a US time zone, huh? -
Basically yes
Just back from the concert, 3 am here, going to sleep

Good Night!

Vampires abound on the forum. Gianfranco's probably got a coffin stashed somewhere in his lovely apartment
-
... now I see why Ingolf was inquiring about more sights of it
BTW gentlemen, just woken up. Good morning! Another shiny day here in North Rome
-
It's 10am in Raleigh, NC and I'm still not awake...
Anybody got some coffee? Or flashing police lights? That always wakes me up!

Well you can't be a vampire otherwise you'd turn to dust when exposed to sunlight.
