I can get a really good deal on a used Voodoo Labs Ground Control midi controller, just wondered if anyone has used one and how difficult it was to 'program'.
thoughts?

If it is an old Ground Control, and has Version 2 software (or above), here is the manual:
Thanks Paul!
I've got one of those - incredibly easy to set-up/program for your basic rig changes etc.
One (sad) note though: when you use it in IA mode (Instant Access - which gives you 6 IA stomps and 4 rig change buttons), the stomp on/off state is not remembered per rig. Every time you switch rigs, all the IA stomp lights turn on on the ground control. Because there's no 2-way MIDI on that device, your stomp states won't match.
One "workaround" is to have all your rigs default to every pedal on... but that's a huge pain too cause you'd probably switch rigs and then have to turn a bunch of stuff off. (and the lights still go on for disabled stomp slots).
Anyway, long way of saying - don't expect good stomp integration. But if you just use rigs, it's totally fine.
And just to be clear, the newer Ground Control Pro fixes this issue and lets you save IA state per rig. This is only an issue on the older ones that paults mentioned.
Thanks Paul!
You're welcome.
BTW - If it is cheap, and looks like it is in good shape, they are good MIDI controllers.
Voodoo Lab GCP is the absolute easiest to program and works perfectly. In fact it worked much better than my Liquid Foot. For me the choice is obvious. Get the GCP.
Hi!
I tried the GCP earlier this year. In fact it is a very good midi controller BUT it didn`t really work with the KPA! There was a long delay between switching. This problem could not be fixed by Kemper or Voodoo Lab. Seemed KPA and GCP don`t match.
I bought the rocktron midi raider and it worked perfectly. You even have 2 more CC`s and there`s no parameter that you cannot customize like you want it. Prize is the same.
guys, I ended up passing on the GC, it was VERY old. I'm leaning toward the Behringer now.
If you are not in a hurry, the Kemper Foot Controller is supposed to be available by the end of the year.
If you just need something to change programs until something better comes along, there are many old cheap MIDI pedals from ART, Roland, Yamaha, Boss. etc.

Or a simple footswitch.
Yeah, even any amp's one will work, with some more foot work
I am trying to set up the IA capabilities of my GCP (brand new) to change performance elements. I can set the IAs on CC50 to CC54 to work within the performance. However, CC48 and CC49 do not lock in the new performance when they increment/decrement it. Any thoughts? I have a (Midi Solutions) midi mapper if necessary.
