I see most people taking about driving a 2x12 or 4x12 which I can understand but has anyone used the powerhead or something like this with just a non-powered monitor? That is the application I continue to think about for having one. Most of the places I've played have some stage monitor...might not be the greatest but it is available...so a guitar and the head (powered) is a plus and you don't need to carry a cab. I used to carry a powered monitor along with me, but have since just used in-ears. Having a powered head available opens up possibilities.

Are those passive monitors? :o
Yes, it's not the most popular option but I remember of someone using passive linear cabs.
This opens a number of new issues, but it's doable. -

Agreed, powered gives you options.

Very cool design. At this price point, I would definitely be interested in one of these.
Keep us updated on the progress.
-
At this price I would be in too!
-
I'll keep on posting here as there are news.
I believe this price is very basic, meaning it just includes the costs (including manufacturing).
Should Andrea start thinking of building them in batch I guess there would be some margin to make it worth the effort. But it would still be the cheapest retrofit option available. I think the key here is the low wattage and the simplicity of the design. Our next steps would be arriving at a working prototype and testing it for a reasonable period of time under several working conditions. Then define the costs for a production in batch and evaluate any interest for this power amp.
One thing that puzzles me is that the white and black versions of the lunchbox appear different from each other. Is it just an optical illusion?
Does the Camplifire fit them both? -

Does the Camplifire fit them both? It's true, they are different.

Yes, the Camplifier-series fits into ALL toaster versions.
-
... How many of them are there? :o
-
I would even be interested in buying the parts and putting them together if that were an option.......for anyone selling a bolt in power option.

Same here. If Ambrosi decides he doesn't want to get into the business of manufacturing and selling these amps, I'd love to see his plans instead!
-
I'm about to receive the prototype. I'll let you guys know
-
Very cool! Thanks.
-
Funny enough, in the exact moment you posted this I received an email from Ambrosi asking for the last details
-
This is like a race against time for me, because I'm very close to selling my Kemper. But if I could find an affordable, effective power amp and use it as a lightweight head, I'd probably be inclined to keep it. Cliffhanger! :O

The Camplifier series is readily available.
What keeps you from using these right now? -

What keeps you from using these right now?I said affordable. I know that means different things to different people, but the Camplifier (especially at current exchange rates) would basically be like doubling down on the KPA, where I've been questioning whether it's the right amp for me in the first place. And Ritter's pricing is funny - if I were going to invest 400 euro for the baseline product, it would only make sense to scare up another 100+ for more power, stereo, etc. All in I'm looking at close to $700, which is too close to just running out and buying the right tube combo for live work.
Reading a post about a 150 Euro solution, or anywhere near that, is a potential game changer, mainly because it's something I could experiment with without breaking the bank.
-
This is the reason why I started looking for a cheap option myself. Of course the available power will be lower than the Camplifier's (around 7 dB less loud than the 180W mono version).
You might also consider an EH 44Magnum, if you don't mind not having a perfect retrofit solution in terms of real estate. It would also be around 1-2 dB louder than the Ambrosi.
BTW, Andrea wrote me an email to confirm that the manual is ready
-
@mbenigni: thanks, makes perfect sense now.

Andrea just called me to tell me the prototype is finished and he's tested it with a regular amp:
Quote
Today I've had a listen to the power amp set to 8 ohm (half power) connected with a 3-watt head.
It worked flawlessly, the power amp is extremely noise-free, I could clearly hear the SCs noise, specially the hum with respect to the HBs.
I made some tests about tension, current and absorbed power at
various outputs and I've measured the temperature at the powerchip, thermal dissipation values are as expected.
I've already written the manual, it includes the technical characteristics, installation instructions, safety standards, suggestions of use and more.Looking forward for the courier to knock at my door ATM
