This guy talks a lot, but AFAIK this is the first report of using a CLR with a KPA... thought it was worth posting
The first Atomic CLR test from a KPA user ?
-
-
that was a very nice story....
-
... The funny part is, that if he had said nothing about his profession or ethics, no-one would have questioned any bias anyway... LOL
-
Actually, the Gear Page is a tough crowd and it is sort of their policy to divulge any affiliation with or bias against any product or company. I think it is a good policy, ethics or not. They also ask lots of questions and details on your particular set up, so I'd figured I'd save time and give the excruciating boring details.
I'm not a "fanboi" of either unit and really enjoy playing through both units. I have to say that those who combine the CLR with a KPA will not be disappointed (of course, unless you prefer a power amp and cab over FRFR. in any case, I'm excited to update my KPA with their new power amp and give going through a guitar cab a listen.
-
Hey, I had not noticed you were a member here as well! I'd expect a post about your new tools on this forum
So, are you planning to buy a retrofit amp for the KPA? The proprietary one or the stereo one? -
I'll probably buy the retrofit, but mono, not stereo; however, I'm hoping I don't have to ship it to be retrofitted. However, when I needed my LEDs fixed, the US repair facility were excellent.
I tend to run everything in mono (I actually don't have room in my studio for two CLRs). I was disappointed that no KPA floorboard was announced at NAMM, but maybe Christoph has a surprise for us in March.

Good to hear the positive about the CLR. I'm pretty much deciding that this will be the way I go with my setup as well, except I'm getting the cabinet version instead.
Looks like a great design!
-
Well, if they can really do the job for studio monitoring (up to a reasonable amount I mean) this might be a game changer!
BTW, slightly OT:
I use these stands for my monitors in studio.
Does anyone know whether a couple of poles for PA cabs fit them (i.e., take the place of the top part)? Thinking of switching them on the fly, I'm not sure the top may manage to hold the CLRs. -
Based upon the weight of a CLR, those stands probably wouldn't work. I'd be wary to use them based upon the bottom not having sufficient width to support the center of gravity.

I agree! If you use CLR as near field monitors you'll have to put it on real PA speakers stands. I have the same stand and while they look cool they are not strong enough for more than a small monitor like my Truths.
-
You guys are both referring to the real "foot" of the stands, not the plate where the cab lies, right? You mean the foot is too small...
Thanks for your opinions

Yes! Even if you could put a pole at the top of the stand the bottom would still not be secure enough (large end strong enough) for a CLR monitor size and weigh.

Thanks again Pick, appreciate your opinion

Placed my order today and will post a review after my next rehearsal!

Awesome! Can't want to hear about it.

It still remains unclear how the CLR will be sold and serviced in Europe, right?
It seems it's not via G66 this time.
Does anybody know more? -

Does anybody know more?I'm on the waiting list (i'm from Europe) and they told me that it will be shipped directly from Germany and the cost will be around 30€.
Also the servicing would be in Germany.G66 also told me that they would not have the CLR's.
Anyone here from Europe on the waiting list had a mail when they would be getting the CLR?

But who exactly will do European servicing then and who exactly will handle servicing requests?
These are (for me) important questions that have not been answered yet. -
