Can somebody please explain what the Distortion Loop is?

It’s a loop that responds to gain staging in the same way as normal amps/pedals. The other loops all automatically level the volume which gives a different result then hitting the front and of an amp or following pedal with a boosted signal. There is a full section in the manual that explains it better than I can.

Please consider to consult the manual for such topics. The Main Manual includes a chapter dedicated to the effect loops, which explains Loop Distortion and what makes it special.

"The Loop Distortion is made for connecting distortion pedals to the PROFILER and is only in mono. The feature unique to this loop, is that any volume boost of a preceding effect will be applied to the DIRECT OUTPUT/SEND jack, thus driving the external distortion pedal. This is what you would expect, anyway. The regular Loop Mono and Loop Stereo do this differently: here, the volume boost of a preceding effect will be applied after the return of the loop. The send level will be unaffected, so the connected effect will not be overdriven. The regular Loop Mono and Loop Stereo are suitable for all non-distorting effects."
So the only difference is that the volume coming into an external pedal is affected by whatever comes before it. Is that all? I thought I read somewhere that there is a noise gate functionality that is tied to this. Thanks.
