JCM900's are generally pretty bright, I don't know if this is true for this model.
Waiting for profiles.

They have their adherents - I was reading a rundown of Robin Trower's touring rig a couple of years back and he had two Marshall heads in his setup and one was a JCM 900.

Waiting for profiles. They do have a reputation of being on the brighter side. There is a trick to defeat this if one wishes, run a jumper in the effects loop. Actually changes the character of the amp quite a bit. Makes it much more mid focused. I happen to like the somewhat bright character of the amp without the jumper. It is a mix of a old 800 and a Silver Jubilee in tone. I will try to get a clip up soon.

Nice, seems Foo Fighters and Rage Against the Machine also use/used them.
I will have fun tube rolling with this one.

I had a JCM900 dual channel modded by BRBS: it was awesome and I miss it so much!
There's lots of mods that cut the brightness: it's a really cheap amp and it's easy to find.
I wait for other samples, thank you man!

I really like this amp, it's not a $4k amp as some of our others but it still sounds great.
While there are only 64 profiles to start hopefully everyone knows how I work, much, much more to come. With lots of cabinets, speakers and mics.
Here is another quick clip, this is a Mesa Black Shadow 90 dual mic'd with a Celestion Alnico Cream:

Al Cream in the Mesa OS cab - what a combo. Tried those with an LP and was very impressed. It is quite a weighty tone - loads of mids and not thin or scratchy at all - the big OS cab probably helps in that department. That AlCr 01 profile with the M160 is very good.
I also locked that cab on and tried some of the higher gain (blade/klon) amp sections from some of the earlier profiles with this amp and they were great too.
Had a quick try out with a strat for contrast. The strat single coil tones (same profiles) have a bit more wildness and chaos in them (LP tones are smoother) and are definitely brighter. I can see the single coil sound working well in a mix but I really loved the fat humbucker tone which has more heft than a typical Marshall tone (say) which is more skewed toward the top end. This Bandmaster is a much more flexible amp than many might expect from something with Fender written on it.
