Sennheiser EM300 IEM G3.
Sennheiser EM300 IEM G3.
Same here.
Wow. I have just begun looking into this. I saw that the Sennheiser EM300 IEM G3 is like $1,000!!!!. Is that standard for an in ear monitor? Thats seems a bit much to me, but I am not sure what others are selling theirs at.
They're a standard sort of price for top of the line professional quality. There are cheaper options, but you won't get Sennheiser grade at Behringer prices.
The LD Systems MEI1000 is stereo and pretty amazing for its price if you're on a budget, but there is an audible difference in quality to the Sennheiser. My friend had a Shure PSM200 and it didn't sound any better than the LD though. In fact it had the disadvantage of being mono and that is a real problem if you want a whole mix.

You can try to find a second hand IEM G2.
Thanks for the info. I do not want something on the cheap. I guess I was a tad bit shocked when I initially saw the price.
Yeah - the price pushes people to buy Shure. Same for microphones because "they sound great" according to a lot of music enthusiasts.
I have the IEM EM300 G2 system and it rocks
I have the EW300 G2 and though the general sound is ok, i really hate the basic hiss due to the compander system when there is very little input signal.

Is the G3 a much better system

Here's a discussion about the differences. In short, yes there are significant improvements with the G3
I've been tempted to buy the Sennheiser system, I've added it to basked on a few occasions with the money ready to go but have always held off. I use a LD MEI 100 wireless system with triple driver custom moulded IEMs.I've gigged them and used them at band practices for a few years and find the sound to be really good. I have no doubt that the Sennheiser would be better but I really can't fault the set up I have.
With correctly set gain staging the noise is very low and sound quality is really quite good. I can notice the hiss when at home testing the system but not at all with the band. Any dropouts are rare and are usually the fault of old batteries but don't distract me at all. I've seen enough reviews complaining about dropouts from every brand/model of transmitter/receiver system to believe it's the nature of the beast. Pro bands will use paddle antennaes instead of the little helicoil ones they come with.
I'm not saying that you don't get what you pay for but anyone that tells you that the £200 range isn't usable is telling you fibs.
The reason for the hiss on the MEI100 is because the treble boost of around 6db cannot be turned off from what I read. On the MEI1000 it is switchable though. Great systems for the money though. You have to look at how many shows and at what level they will be to justify what product you buy.
