Rig manager can't count?

  • I've purchased a lot of 3rd party profiles with the idea that the profiler can store 1000 or so. Recently, the Rig Manager reported I had 862 on the profiler, but started with a message that I had over 1000 and needed to delete at least 55 (I think). So, I deleted more than that and got the same message--that I had over 1000 profiles on the Kemper and needed to delete at least 15. Rinse, repeat. I deleted about 20, and got the same message, even though the rig manager reported that I had 775 on the profiler. What's going on?

  • Thanks, I was wondering about that, but I don't see any other folders under My Profiler in Rig Manager.

May be the factory rigs that are on there in addition to your imported ones. Regardles, FWIW I barely have any profiles stored on my actual Kemper. You can import them into Rig manager and load from there, just connecting via USB. That way you can have as many as you like, all organised into different folders, by amp or profiler etc. Only import into the actual Kemper the rigs that you will definitely need for a gig or something. I'm assuming you have a computer near your Kemper?

Hey, man. When you load profiles from Rig Manager, does it say "Preview" along with your stars-rating on the Profiler screen? Is that preview mode just as high quality as the normal mode when loading from the Profiler itself?

  • I would explain, but I'm sure this video does a better job:

Watch from 2:00. Not sure about this preview thing, but I dont have that kind of problem. The quality shouldn't be affected at all though. Just be sure to 'drag and drop' (or import from the file menu) the profiles from either the Kemper(as the video describes) or any folder on your computer where you have downloaded commercial profiles into your 'local library' folder, at least initially. You can then right click the local library folder in order to create subfolders. Then drag and drop your profiles as to your preference and go from there. As I said, I have created sub folders for each author of profiles(M.britt, Tonehammer, The Amp Factory etc), though I'm beginning to think using sub folders for each amp type and then having another sub folder for each author within the amp type is the better way to go! Bit of a laborious task having to change everything now though!

  • I had a similar issue in the last few days - 1000 rigs warning on KPA when booting it up but RM telling me I had just 960.

I had been saving multiple new rigs to the KPA and then moving them to RM folders on my PC and deleting them from the KPA to make room for more. I reverted to the previous release version of the OS which fixed this and contacted support. Support said to reinstall the latest beta and hold the rig button down for 30 secs on reboot of the KPA.

Yes! I was importing and moving rigs similarly, and holding down the rig button while booting also fixed my problem!!! The number of rigs on the KPA and the Rig Manager now match at well under 1000. No more lengthy rig-synching at startup, either.
