chaps,
As the subject really. With all the software updates, is the front input still the best input?
Please & thankyou!

Well, it's the only direct-guitar one, Shaun.
The rear one is designed for reamping and is therefore at line level.
IOW: yes.
Rack mounted there is no way to run a cable to the front of the amp since I have an ep pedal and wireless in the back. Is it a big difference? Enough to route a hole in the rack to send the cable to the front?
I am using the alternative input with my rack for the same reason (wireless) and I don't have any problems with it. Some people say that it is a bit more noisy, but I didn't notice that.

There is actually. I'm doing it. All I do is use a George L cable to connect to the front. I run it through one of the holes for a screw in one of my 2-space rack gear units. I just only screw in 3 of the 4 screws to hold the unit in (which is plenty to hold it in place). That leaves the 4th hole open and is more than wide enough to get a George L cable through. Very convenient, and I'm using the best input available.
Good idea, OhG. I've done similar things in the past with synths and headphones.
Important to use the bottom two screws IMHO and sacrifice one of the top ones. I've tended to rack my synths up using only the bottom ones for the convenience of quicker removal / moving from / around the rack. As long as the rack remains upright, gravity will ensure that the missing top screws will mean about as much as the lame-stream-media news - not a danged thang.
I haven't experienced any issues with line noise. Other then line noise what is the difference in running out front vs the rear. Is the overall tone/feel affected by the different inputs?
So I tried it out and the front Input sounds and feels Better go figure I used a George l through the rack screw hole and it worked like a charm thanks everyone!!

You tried that with just passive pickups right into the Kemper?
Correct. Using passive pickups. Ibanex RG prestige and tonezone pickups. I noticed a little bit more clarity and the signal is allot cleaner. It was pretty clean before but I didn't realize that it could make a difference like this. I would say just run a cable to the front and a/b you will see the difference.

I trust you. Its just that I use a relay (G10) between guitar and the Kemper. And with the output of that I did not notice any difference between rear and front. So for convenience I use the rear. With just PU and cable I would go your way.
I use the Shure GLX-d and I noticed a difference. It is more apparent at higher volumes.
Thanks for all the tips & advice chaps!
George L cable solution seems the way to go!
How long did you make the cable? I might have to give this a go. Don't want too much more cable than I need hanging out in there.
The cable is sold by metre lengths, so I've ordered 1 metre, which should be enough. The Beauty of the George L cable setup, is that they're push/tighten fitting, no soldering required! So if the cable is too long, simply cut it to size!
Fits perfectly into a rack screw hole I used the bottom right hole by the input and used an angled george L cable connector. Planet Waves is to large to fit into the screw hole. The cable is a little over a foot. I'm going from the Shure GLXD4 into an Xotic EP Booster out to the front input of the kemper. \m/

Thanks! I found a 2 foot cable. A little less than a meter. I figured I'd cut it to size. I'm coming out of the back of a Line6 G90. Thanks much @NorthShaun!
George L cable fitted! Job done!....and I swear, it sounds even better! \m/
