Is profiling still loud if the amp is set to low volume?

Yes, but to get the best profile as possible you should set your amp at its sweet spot volume during the procedure which means very loud noises.

I never tried it myself but if your amp has a line out you could use a dummy load and profile direct from the line out ( no noises ) then add a cabinet from the KPA. You could also just profile the preamp.

Thanks for the responses.

So if I use the line out instead of mic & speaker, how does it save the cab sound? Or does it not save a cab sound in that case?

The resulting profile is always splitted between amp and cab. Using the Line out to profile you'll need to swap the cab with one of the available ones

So if it's always split between Amp and Cab, even if I'm not using a physical cab, what sort of sound gets saved to the Cab button?

If the amp has a line out it will have some sort of cab emulation (like the RedBox) going on and that is the part that goes in to the Cab, if you profile from the FX send of the amp it will be almost (but not completely) zero

Sorry I'm still confused.

You say a profile always saves to both an amp, and a cab. However if you use the line out from your amp instead of mic/speaker, it saves "zero"? Not sure what this means...

I don't have my Kemper here yet. Just trying to understand how it works.

Line out=cab emulation (normally)
Preamp out/send=zero
