Anybody have any luck pulling together a tasty Jerry Garcia Rig?
Grateful Dead Tones?

*BUMP*

I'm very keen to find some Garcia type amp tones as well.
A good clean Fender Twin profile would be a good place to start. But Garcia only used the preamps. He used very high headroom Macintosh power amps to avoid any power amp distortion.
I know there are guys out there who have built Garcia rigs. Maybe I will reach out to them and see if they be interested in letting me profile one of their amps.

bump. Looking for a good garcia clean tone as well.

There was an upload to the RE recently...a Fender Twin through a Macintosh power amp. Exactly what Garcia used.
I fiddled around with it a bit but wasn't that into it. I will give it another go. I'll also find the profiles and send them to you if you like.
Other than that I would find a good clean Twin profile and tweak it to taste. Garcia used a Strat in '72 and he loved the middle pickup. He also liked to turn the bass way down and the middle way up.

You can check out the two I did - here is some info:
Emulating The Tone of Garcia Project
I would recommend adding a tad bit of compression in the amp section. Let me know what you think. With any luck, I plan on going out and profiling some other Jerry rigs this year at some point.

FYI, I found an IR vendor who has Fender Twin Reverbs with JBL D-120s - not K-120 but close. I haven't checked these out yet but those in the know, know the JBLs were intrinsic to Garica's tone.
Edit#2: there is a marshall cabinet with JBL K-120's hmmm
Edit: a link might help...
