Seymour Duncan Hyperswitch - Bluetooth controlled switch

Just stumbled across this. Kind of unnecessary but also funny.

It's a "5 way" pickup switch that is controlled over bluetooth.

Bluetooth wouldn't be my favourite connection but I can see it in a studio guitar or for experimenting at home.

The problem with all of these gadgets is that once they deprecate the software, and no longer provide updates, you either have to connect with an old phone that hasn't been updated to the latest OS software. I've seen it with so many other items trying to connect via smartphone.

Hard pass for me.

It's quicker to select the switch rather than open up a phone; open an app, and then select. And what if you get a phone call? Some new ideas are just totally stupid.

The bluetooth isn't to select the pickups - it's to set up what each position does. The app is for setup only and not operation.

I like the idea - but concern over abandoned software is quite valid.
