I'll be danged if I can even load the page, AJ. Bandwidth isn't exactly stellar right now.
Say, are they talking about throwing shrimps on the barbie (we actually never do that - only prawns - thank you Paul Hogan), deadly wildlife or drinking beer? These seem to be the things we're famous for the world over...
Thanks for thinking of us bro'.

That's hilarious!

Don't forget surfing shark attacks, great barrier reef and Foster's lol!!!
The rivalry we have with Australia is awesome. It would be even bigger if we weren't SO much more amazing. :p

Shark attacks come under deadly wildlife and Fosters comes under beer (sadly - it's one of our worst brews), Shawn. Plenty of deadly stuff on the reef too like stone fish, sea snakes and Irukandji jellyfish.

Love the Kiwis and cherish our rivalry too, Grant. It's awesome!
AJ, I still don't get what the thread's about, mate. Bandwidth not allowing me to load the page yet...
Same back at you mate.
If i'm honest I feel like i should have been born in Australia and not the UK, the UK for me has always been synonymous with boredom and the colour grey..........
I used to have an educational book as a kid that had a map of the world in the back of it and over each country was an animal that was native to that country, so over Africa you had lions and gazelle and hyena's and Canada had bears and moose and the UK had a Cod.......
You are lucky you don't live here haha
Well if it makes you feel any better I'm in the gloomiest part of Oz here in Melbourne, mate.
So, I can relate to cod...
@Monkey_Man We had 27 degree heat yesterday and the day before which is pretty damn hot for us Brits, and today its 16 and raining! dont know if i should get my shorts on or get an umbrella!
Sounds exactly like Melbourne, Munkeh. We're known for having 4 seasons in a day.
AJ, what the Hell is this thread about, mate?

For that, you need to get a working Internet connection to look at that link I posted.
Australia is also famous for its actors like Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe.
And Masterchef Australia.
And I think Melbourne (Sydney?) is rated as having the best quality of life worldwide.
Australia is also famous for overcharging on musical instruments.
I was actually checking out the link to see if I could acquire a CLR. Alas, no South-east Asia purchase option. The Australian store wants nearly 2 grand for one before shipping.

So, they are so small that you can barely see them and have enough venom to kill someone?
I'll take Cod and the rain over these little monsters any day...
LOL Totally, V8!
AJ, thank you for that info, man.
Yes, we're charged an arm and a leg for gear down here. I didn't know that it was something other countries might be aware of, so that's interesting. If you take into account the Aussie-dollar value, shipping costs, GST and so on, we're still expected to pay a premium beyond that, so it just plain sux.
Nobody's been able to explain this to me, and I've spoken to many retailers about it. I'm forced to conclude that they do it because they feel they can get away with it, and until now, they have.
It's the same here but worse. We're a small economy and the government helps the local instrument retailers shaft us by charging duty/GST/biosecuity fees/etc.
Yup, we're in the same boat on both sides of the dutch, Grant, but you guys have a few extra charges thrown in for good measure.
It'd be cheaper if we became one country, which is a possibility one day.

I used to live in Australia. (Born in Manly Syd)
I left Australia for some of these reasons.
When you complain about what's happening people often say "you should leave if you don't like it"
Well I did leave it and it was the best decision in my life.
Australia is over regulated, over policed, over taxed, over priced, self entitled, violent, arrogant, small d_ck syndrome etc etc..
It's a BIG world out there and I'm afraid Australia barely gets a mention from others which is far different than what Australians believe about their world stage status.
Yes, the above is rather negative but it has to be said in order to maintain reality which is RARELY ever said about Australia..
I have a positive view of Australia as a moderate country that doesn't bomb anybody, mostly.
Their position on refugees and asylum seekers and treatment of aborgines are a downer.
Still, compared to a lot of other countries, they seem like likeable blokes imo.
This Barnaby Joyce affair and the fact that so many of their MPs were dual citizens (how on earth do you not know where you are a citizen? Talk about privilege. Only came out about it when they got caught), on the other hand, probably serves to illustrate the same problem everywhere: too much government, and dirty government at that.
You gotta love that twang though: "Austrailian", hahaha
