Hey, I have to use my Kemper in mono at the weekend (desk issues) and I am trying to work out which output is best. I will be using an XLR into a desk but there seems to be a big difference between master mono and master left.
Most of my delays etc are stereo and with master left they sound a little fuller but I guess I’m only getting the left side of the stereo effect. With master mono you hear the whole of the delay but it doesn’t sound quite as full or lush.
Am I missing something and what is the purpose of the mater left if you only get half the stereo signal which I assume would be the same as master stereo.

Master Mono combines Left+Right of all stereo effects into a mono signal. You would still hear both delay taps of a "ping pong" delay, mono chorus, etc.
With Master Left (or Right) you would hear only one side's delay time of a ping pong, thinner mono chorus, etc.

I wonder if master mono - depending on the particular fx and settings used - can sound thinner due to phasing issues?

Don't think so. It's summed to mono, there is no phasing afaik.
There's bound to be a difference in the sound. Master left is only the left side of the stereo field. Master mono is both left and right signals output on a single channel.

I am running stereo xls out to our board and can still control the volume with the master.....can that be locked so I stay consistent to the board.

Yes - Unlink the Main Outputs from the Master Volume in the Output Menu.

Awesome Paults,
Thanks
Then use the regular volume to level my rigs.... correct?

yes, but you'd have to do each rig individually. To avoid doing this at shows, find a practice space where you can crank the KPA and fix your levels beforehand.

Thanks NL....thats definitely my plan as i have several banks to level!

... what is the purpose of the mater left if you only get half the stereo signal which I assume would be the same as master stereo. Here's my take on that:
master left to monitor - powered output to speaker (behind) It's only half a signal so different to mono as described by @paults upthread.
XLR out (right) to powered wedge (in front)et voila, Stereo! It's front to back (as opposed to side to side) but sounds great and there is a feeling of depth.
Of course this uses one of the XLR outs so if you need to send stereo to FOH you'll need to take the thru from your wedge (I run a second XLR cable back to the stage box _ keeps it simple for the soundies!)
I did spend a while wondering where the 'master right' setting was before I twigged that you don't need it (its already at the main outputs)

Hello, i confirm phase issues using FX in master mono, try on reverbs, in master mono the reverb is weaker than master left = phase issues.
