Hey guys,
Have been on here for a while, but I ended up being interviewed by Australian Guitar Magazine recently and the Kemper gets a mention and a pic!
Hey guys,
Have been on here for a while, but I ended up being interviewed by Australian Guitar Magazine recently and the Kemper gets a mention and a pic!
Congratulations, James!
Thank you for mentioning our beloved beastie too, mate.
Kemper is better for the environment and gets you more chicks at gigs
one of those is true.
congrats mate good work( your flushing out all the Aussies now )
Ash
Cheers guys - yeah good to get the Aussie user numbers up. Glad I had a chance to mention it ... after the interview we actually talked about it for ages and it got reviewed in the same issue of the mag.
... and Ash is havin' a beer as we speak. Damned Aussies.
Hang on... D'Oh!
German beer , cause it brewed under the purity law
You know beer is a source of Boron right?
With out boron, you cannot process calcium which is why arthritis people feel better after taking Boron...
but dont use beer as your source for boron, its turns you into a Moron!! LOL
I tried a bloody coopers RED sparking Ale the other day,(no preservatives) kicked my back side..(stronger then German beer)
Ash
Dang. It's as if the words came right out of my mouth, Brother Ash.
Correct. Boron and B-group vitamins.
Correct. The purity law. That's why the only beer I drink, one every 3 or 4 months, is Löwenbräu.
Since the Aussies are out in full force in this thread now , the only shame about Löwenbräu inOz...
is that bloody woolies who own BWS, have an EXCLUSIVE only license for it.
So you can only buy bloody Löwenbräu at BWS ...or Germany
Ash
The horrible irony here is that I'm a non-drinker!
Great American beverages with red backgrounds and white script logos are my go-to at the end of a day at the studio.
Oh man, those things will kill you, brother! LOL
Yeah Ash, back in the early '90s when I discovered the 'bräu you could get it anywhere. Now it's Woolies or bust, man. Price went up two bucks last year for a six pack too...
Great job James!
Might I say, James, that reading the part of the interview in the pic left me virtually speechless. You look at mixing and arranging pretty much exactly how I do. The only difference is that you know what you're doing music-theory wise, whereas I go only by ear.
Uncanny, man. I'm guessing your stuff's damned interesting, high-class and dare I say it, somewhat unique.
Again, well done with the interview, mate!
@Monkey_Man - I know the theory, but I completely go by ear as well. The questions were really pointedly asking me to give a 'jazz theory' answer to them as that was the interview's angle.
Honestly - it all goes out the window in the studio. Nothing matters at all!
Mixing and arranging is all playing and parts ... pretty much nothing technical.
Ha! Too right mate.
I just let the song tell me what it needs, figure out the parts, play and record 'em... then forget them altogether so I repeat myself as little as possible. No practice here, so my chops suck so much I don't have any. It matters not 'though; I only have to learn the parts required. Often half the battle is retaining the picture I have in my head, be it of the entire arrangement or a particular part I'm trying to nail. Knowledge of theory, in this instance, would help tremendously as I'd be able to jot this stuff down, relieving the pressure greatly. I've had a block with theory, especially where scales, modes and staffs are concerned, since I was a kid, so that's OK I guess. It only adds to the challenge and excitement of it all
My ultimate goal is to be able to sit back in the lounge room (living room to our overseas Kemperites), whack one of my songs on, be impressed, and ask myself, "How the Hell did I do that?". I had this experience back in the early '90s when I last completed songs and produced final product. I hope and pray with every fibre of my being, as they say (didn't Carlos Castaneda use the phrase first?), that I'll still be able to come up with the goods all these long, long years later...
With the attitude that you're more concerned about your parts and playing than the recording gear you're using - I'm certain you'll create that feeling again, @Monkey_Man.
One thing's for sure - the guitar sounds will be awesome!
Thanks for sharing James! Nice article and congrats!!
Congrats @jamesnorth!

Woohoo!
Thank you so much for the encouragement, James; it means an awful lot to me.*
