The New Method For Profiling Question

Just trying to wrap my head around the new method ...er that was new with 3.0 I believe
I'm in the process of getting back into updates and just want to be super clear on the major improvement that happened

For direct, is the di box really needed? I mean if it is set to load into a load box, can't you bypass the Di thing... or does it really make a difference? My amp has a post power direct out.. so I wouldn't use the direct out from the attenuator, I'd only use the attenuator set to load.

as for merging, it is all about a direct amp being merged with the cab section only of a complete "studio" profile, right? (or Impulse response if preferred)

I can answer the DI question I believe. Most important is that your tube amp is always connected to a speaker or load so it doesn't get damaged . You have that covered so you can certainly profile using your setup. The DI on the other hand allows the interaction between the AMP and the speaker to be present in the profile as your connection will be from the speaker out into DI then it goes to speaker and to Kempr for profiling. I believe if you connect from the line out, if your amp has one, you will not get the speaker interaction with the amp as when you connect from the speaker out.

If this Line Out includes Speaker Simulation, you would not want to use it to create a Direct Preamp Profile.

You COULD use it to create a Studio Profile, if it has a great sounding Speaker Simulator.

And, if it is not influenced by the varying load of the actual speaker connected to the amplifier, you would not want to use it to create a Direct Amplifier Profile. You would get better results with a DI box between the amplifier and speaker.

it's a post power tap, not emmulation
same as di, but I guess no speaker interplay
will have to compare and see if it makes difference

The direct out of your Amp will give you not the same result as the signal between speaker out and Cab!

Thanks, I'll check with Mojave Amps to see if the line out reacts to the load or not

it does not have speaker simulation and it is post power

On further study, I realize it does matter to have the cab interaction
so I'll be looking to capture that
