I really can't see the point in being able to save multiple profiles, rigs, fx etc with the same name.
It can make finding a patch very confusing and frustrating.
It would be nice if the save option was, "replace" or "save as" and if "save as" is chosen, you have to have a new name.

Well, when you save a rig you're presented with the options to Replace, Store As, Rename the rig.
If you save an fx preset you're presented with the name to edit. Since saving - by mistake - w\o editing the name would generally lead to overwriting the original preset, I'd consider it a safety function
What are you missing exactly?
-
Not missing anything.
I just don't think you should be able to have two rigs with the same name. -

I just don't think you should be able to have two rigs with the same name. Are you able to have 2 rigs with the same rig name now? By pressing STORE - Store As... ?

Not missing anything.
I just don't think you should be able to have two rigs with the same name. They still have a different time stamp.

I know Ingolf, it's just messy!
It would be better if it wouldn't let you save it again in "save as" until you'd changed the name. -

Agreed on your point, just wanted to explain the logic (I think) behind it. -

it's a complete pain in the butt for presets, because there's no replace option at all. AND they cannot be managed through rig manager. you have to store as, use the same name, then browse, compare timestamps, and delete the old one.
i'm not sure how i feel about forcing different rig names, simply because this would prevent you from loading two different profiles onto your unit with the same name. for instance, if a commercial vendor names all his profiles per pack 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, you would have to open rig manager and edit the profile name tag before being able to import to the profiler.
i think what's best is if you press store, you are instantly brought to a name to edit based on the existing name. when you press store again, if you already have a profile with the same name, it prompts a warning with overwrite/cancel/auto-rename options. overwrite is the same as replace. auto-rename would add "(1)" behind the name like windows does. If a "(#)" already exists, it just auto-increments - "(2)", "(3)", etc.

Kemper said they are going to change the way presets are managed, at last!
