Is it a good idea to run the KPA into a small mixer, to the studio monitors rather than the KPA straight into the studio monitors? What would be the pros and cons of using a mixer? I'm strictly a home player.

Sorry, I haven't had experience with a mixer. I was thinking a mixer between the KPA and studio monitors would degrade the signal and may take away from the overall sound. Although there are so many good reasons to use a mixer like backing tracks, drum machines and such, it probably doesn't change the sound enough to make a difference.

Mixer with decent Pre will not degrade anything. The new Mackie serie with VLZ3 preamps is excellent value for money

Simply use the Line Ins of the Mixer to bypass the Mic Preamps. Since the KPA Master Outputs are already at Line Level there is no need to amplify them any further.

A friend who lives in another state offered to sell Soundcraft EFX8 or Notepad 124FX that he's not using. I may want to use backing tracks and maybe a drum machine. I may try to plug in my Taylor with the ES also. How would either of these Soundcraft mixers work?
