Hmmm, well, I guess we can talk sub-genres for all eternity, but for me it just ain't power metal! That was born (and killed!) by Pantera. To me, that vocal vibrato, technical guitar chops and speed screams eighties' spandex, hairspray and Roadrunner Records, but I must be just getting old. No offence, my man. Pantera was never a power metal band even tho they had an (really good) album called so =P
They started as a shitty hair metal band (I have no interest for the first few albums)
The album "Power Metal" was just plain fucking heavy metal... (great album!!!!!!!!!)
Then they grooved things up after that (and I have no interest for that either)The Storyteller is more in line with Helloween, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall that kind of fantasy nerd power metal stuff...
Its far from Poison, Bon Jovi, Europe and all that stuff...I think it sounds quite different from each other...
