I have a Rack (open box) unit and could trade it in +$200 for a Head unit.
Is the extra room worth it? It's a touch cramped on the Rack but it's hard to justify spending extra for the same sound.

I'd stick with the rack, mate.
You can rack it up in a dedicated enclosure and use it as a head on a cabinet or plunk it into a studio / home permanent enclosure. The toaster's trickier to house along with other gear this way.
I've not heard any rack owners complain of its seeming cramped, nor do I find it so. Just MHO.
Nicky is right if you take along other rack gear. Then staying with the rack version is obvious. But if you just rely on the Kemper alone like I do (and love it ) then you could think about. I like the form factor for being stylish and user-friendliness (all knobs present and more light-rings around). But that's a highly personal view..
I have the head and in my opinion the mod knobs are not that useful, i rarely use them actually. But I love the leds. Many say that you should use your ears and not eyes etc blah blah, well it's not that, i think. I'm used to see the position of the knobs in my amp. Wouldn't trade to rack version without a very good reason just because of that.
