Andertons Helix Vid

I've posted clips at http://www.soundcloud.com/burningyen/sets/gear-demos-covers. After 2 days of tweaking, my best Kemper profiles still sound better than what I can dial up in the Helix (although there are some exceptions). Maybe that will change after I start to dig into IRs tonight. The overall power and functionality of the Helix is definitely winning me over, though.

Apparently so. Haven't thrown one down the stairs yet!

Aside from that, the Machine Gun clip sounds awesome. Where did you get the amp from?

Ben,
Profile your fav Helix settings and have the best of both!!!

Well, the biggest attractions of the Helix over the Kemper are things you can't profile.

It's Tim Owens' HAWP7 MSTR-05 profile from this thread:Have amps, will profile the BE100: Lets make some profiles...

Cool. Completely off topic, but why this amp? Are they good? This completely swept me by.
-
If you have not heard of the Friedman HBE-100, try the HAWP profiles immediately. I think session 8 is a good place to start, as it had basically every combination of the switches.
-
I just downloaded the whole zip file. Phase 8 right?

I've never played a BE-100 in real life, but the clips I've heard have sounded pretty special. And I didn't try all of Tim's profiles (his prolific output was overwhelming), but of the ones I tried the one I used for that clip had the right amount of gain and a nice warm tone. -
Sweet. I'll give them a go.
Plexi clone by the looks of it, right?
-
Clone is a bad word for it. Hot rodded is better. Steroid crack pimped is more accurate

Hey all,
Made a short video test today for those interested in how the Helix sounds using multiple guitars. The aim was to see how well it kept the original guitars tone as a common complaint of Line 6 gears has been that they make all guitars pretty much sound the same.

Interesting video, thanks for sharing!.....Your Love Never Fails.

Thanks for this! Came for the Helix vid but stayed for the Guitars - some great ones here.
That Cort model with the holes caught the eye. Fuel for the tone wood debate perhaps...
The red Steel model is real looker as was that last red Tele - gorgeous!
Interesting comparison vid - I think the Helix does a 'respectable' job here.
Cheers! -

Cheers!Yeah my thoughts also, in person they were pretty distinct in their sounds and i think that comes across in the video as well.
Yeah i can't say i notice any unpleasantness in tone due to the holes in the guitar!

Been checking out the Helix in the last week, plus, a few of my Kemper customers also checked it out, full time pro players who've been gigging with the Kemper for a while now.
It looks magnificent, but we have nothing to worry about, don't waste your money...it's a no contest.

It catches everyone's eye because it is flashy and looks very nice. The sounds totally do not compare. However I would consider using it going into a guitar amp for effects, but don't need to do that since the Kemper does it all.

I have had a couple of weeks with helix. Amps aren't in Kemper territory. FX are very very nice though- especially with all the routing options and all the amazing assignability features.
Heres a helix looping video:

To my ears it is as "real" sounding as the Kemper, but it's harder to get the same end results because of the work and skill that the commercial profilers put into the profiles we all know and love. Tonight's rehearsal will be my 1st chance to hear the Helix at full band volume. I'll probably decide which to keep after that.
