Am I crazy or is my cable no good? There's no "locking" on the ethernet connector on the Kemper side. A slight tug and it comes out. Is this normal?

It definitely should lock. Is the plastic 'nose' there or broken off?

The nose appears there and in tact, but it doesn't look as "robust" as normal cat5/6 style connectors. As a test, i plugged a regular cat5 cable into the Kemper and it snapped in fine. I tried to put the KFC cable into an ethernet port on a router and same thing happened. Slid out with minimal effort.

Seems like a defective plug. The Cable is a regular "network cable" and it should act the same when plugged in. I will test this too, just to be sure.

I emailed Kemper support. Hopefully they can send a replacement. It's definitely the cable.I wonder if the actual wiring is any different than a regular cat5/6 cable? Would be nice to have back up options.

You can use any CAT5 cable of decent quality as a backup.
I'm playing with different cables myself. -
