I love the KPA toaster interface, but unfortunately my eyes are more dated then the device.

I rely on IOS rig manager these days and it’s a marvellous touch screen on my M2 IPad Pro.

No lag, very responsive and a joy to use. It fails in usage only by its failure to update with acces to the system menu and a appropriate way to navigate rigs. Otherwise my Kemperverse is complete, just need to get rid of this.

    Code

It’s always been a no brainer with me, want a touchscreen, use a tablet.

In my self entitled world it’s the best option bar none, not tied to a PC, super smooth operation, comfortable and elegant.

I have been a absolute crybaby asking for an update for the IOS rig manager over the years.

The Kemperverse will be complete for me, done, no wants or needs just complete, a credible 13 year journey.

My guess is there is a misunderstanding here and we might be talking about the same thing. I can certainly save a preset as a copy, just not edit a preset and save to the same preset - unless its embedded in a rig.

Here is an example, the following is a downloaded rig from fig exchange.

The delay preset I want to keep, it’s the Andy Timmons halo approximation by Thomas Dill.

I just want to save this to the list of presets on Rig manager IPadOS.

Doable on Rig Manager and the unit itself of course.

Would be so much easier if the note could be inside the preset. Lots of other uses for this as well.

No doubt but there’s a zillion requests for users personal wants, I’d rather Kemper invest resources to requests of the majority, personally I’ve being bugging Kemper for an update to Rig Manager IPad since soon after release but I think I have to accept that I’m in the minority.

You're missing the issue. If you read through my initial statement you'll see that I'm talking about taking a preset that has a name and putting it into a rig, once you do that and save it and come back to the rig later that preset name will no longer be in the effects slot so you don't really know what you have in there. The effect will be but you won't know if that is the preset you put in there or not unless you went through all the parameters. Or do what I do and just reload the preset again which is kind of a redundant action.

Ok get ya 👍🏻, but personally if I needed that I’d make a folder in a notes app and store the preset used per rig, not elegant admittedly but that’s me.

This is not the first time this has been discussed.

The bottom line is once a preset is tweaked it is no longer that preset.

If you like the tweaks save as a new preset.

If you want a reference to the preset you tweaked just use it when you name it.

808 mid with tweaks becomes 808 mid #2 or what ever format works for you.

    It’s not rocket science.

I wonder about the KPP's durability? They will likely be a different story than the higher end Kemper products.

There was a video that showed some issues with the USB connector and easy to damage solder pads on one chips. He stated the Player was built with great margins, lots of profit.

I don’t own a Player, but every German assembled product is built to be a tank, as to the video 🤷seems to have an agenda. Looks like a decent quality PCB to me

I am not as optimistic as others here about Kempers reliability.

For older models, I would look for the front 4 main encoders below the screen. After a while, those often start to turn by themselves. For example, go in the output menu and adjust volumes and see if when you release them they stay at the value or start going up/down by themselves. For the Powerhead, look that there is no hiss coming/white noise coming from the power amp when everything is supposed to be silent. Also check your master stereo output and make sure both L and R are outputting the same and healthy volume. If your RJ 45 input at the back is not broken yet on a 2016 model, go buy a lottery ticket.

I’ve never had problems with the encoder myself but agree check the RJ45 connector on the back.

It’s a real weakness of the KPA when you use a foot controller and combined the the absolutely POS cable supplied is a recipe for fail.

My head was purchased mid 2012.

The front board was replaced two years ago, having said that it was still totally usable.

A growing number of LEDs had failed and the screen had something funky going on, probably my fault on that one.

When I got it back it was basically as new again and I continue with that unit today and fully expect it to last another 10 years if supported.

Is anyone else surprised that Kemper that has never updated the rack and head to stage specs?

Two effect loops, built in Wi Fi, true impedance ect, and while we are at it replacing that god awful remote rj45 connector to the neutrik connector on the head/rack.

After the stage was released I thought it would be just a matter of time, but alas

I know this all costs money and is a lot of work but figure this would be a a nice injection for sales and marketing. :/
