Replacing with JR EMGs
Hi all,
I have just snagged myself a JR Telecaster and I want to replace the stock pups with his signature set.
Is it worth replacing the internal electronics with EMGs or just hot swapping to his sig set?
Cheers,

Doesn't the Jim Root Telecaster come OEM with EMG 60 and EMG 81 already?

It does. 🤔 The JR set is custom to him, though.
Unless you see an advantage in gutting the electronics (easier to swap?)…..there’s no real reason you can’t use the existing stuff.
Thanks. Saves me a job to be honest. I tried a set of retro active 70s a few weeks back and they soudned great. His sig set are similar as far as I am aware
I have a Schecter Sun Valley with the retro 70's and they sound very close to a Seymour Duncan JB. If I were to use any other EMG then I would go for the Zakk Wylde set.
I would leave the JR alone and enjoy as is.

Thanks for your advise. Im going to play with it for a few weeks and at practice. I do like the sound of the retro actives.
