My DSR112 reckons the line input is 4 dBu, does this mean I need to set the Kemper output to 4 dB?

No, that's just the standard line level input for professional music instruments. Set your output to whatever whatever suits you but doesn't clip. Most people from memory on here go for between -20 and -16.

Yep i have mine around -18 IIRC

People attenuate that much to not overload consoles. I don't see a good reason for attenuating that much when connecting to a +4 dBu line input.
It seems the DSR112's max input level is +24 dBu, and the Kemper has a max output of +22 dBu (XLR), so there's no need to attenuate at all
