Man I've always had a soft spot for that late 90s/early 2000s tone that the JMP 1 nails... You nailed the tone that many want with this unit, I don't think there is any other profiles out there that get close. What power amp/power amps did you use with it?

The JMP-1 is tight as a gnats ass!! Enjoying the hell out of this one so far.
-
yep...no boost needed and works great for almost all styles..i also really dig the clean and crunch tones!
-
I bought a profile and I'm confused how this even works... I paid, but I still have no download link
There's no personal log-in on the page, so I have no clue what to do now haha -
Hi..we send them always manually..sorry for the wait i was in a recording session
You should have them now! -

The cleans really feel familiar if that makes sense. They seem to breathe a little more than most straight up Marshall stacks.

I'm in love
I've had so much trouble with Kemper but I think I've found the perfect profiles now! At least for certain applications, like old school heavy metal, may work for thrash too! The combination of these two are just magnificient!
First it's both SE 2 1960 and SE 2 Hesu combined right and left, and then I solo the Hesu and then solo the 1960.

Holy shit are these profiles compressed. At least I think so... They feel completely different from other profiles I've tried!
I think that's one of the parts that makes these sound so good...
But the problem is that they are so delicate, that I have to play differently so I dont get too much string noise from fingers touching strings.
I haven't had this problem with my usual profiles I use, but these are really sensitive. I actually like that! Will make me a better player in the long run because you can't cheat with these profiles!EDIT: Am I the only one who hears a low-mid noise, especially on the Hesu? I wasn't sure at first, but the more I listen the more I hear a nasty noise in the low-mid area...
This is what made me ditch my TAF 5150 profiles I bought, because they had a low rumbling noise that I couldn't get rid of even with high pass filters... I hope I don't have to ditch these profiles because of that noise, because it's probavbly the best metal rhythm profiles I've ever heard (and yes, I have a loto f other profiles that doesn't make this noise, so it's not my Kemper or something like that) -
My ears was right, THERE IS A LOW END RUMBLE ON THIS PROFILE.
And it's that kind of rumble that just ruins mixes. You can't high pass it away, because you have to high-pass up to like 250-300hz which is way too high for metal guitars. I usually highpass at 100-150 something, and with that setting I can definitely hear the rumble if soloed, and with drums and bass there's this ugly noise you can put your finger on.
Listen to my first file above, and you will hear it too if you have decent monitors.
Here's an EQ sweep so you can hear when the noise starts:

I ditched the Hesu and it doesn't sound as noisy anymore, but I dont think it has the same magic as the 1960/Hesu combo...
Still very good, but I miss the Hesu frequienciesFirst Grave Digger riff/intro!

Hi
the Hesu is overall a bit more boxy than the other cabs. I would not EQ it..i would use a Multiband Comp like C4..to ditch only the sections where rumble appears
btw nice tracks!
-
Hmm, I only have Cubase builtin multicomp... Is C4 some Waves stuff?
I dont really think its a "boxy" sound, but rather just a low noise thats constant no matter what notes or chords being played...
I can hear it slightly on 1960 as well, so it shouldn't be the Hesu itself.... The 1960 is pretty damn good tho
-
you can use any multiband compressor for this. Yes C4 is waves
http://i28.servimg.com/u/f28/15/68/28/53/andy_s10.gif <-you can create something similar with any Multiband compressor.
Most modern metal producers use this...thats the settings Andy Sneap uses
Only the 2nd Band is active..the others are bypassed -
So, not even low-pass for the high frequencies?
Actually I thought it sounded pretty good with no low-pass...
-
Depends....i usually go for HP70-90hz and LP11khz but it controls the lowmids that sometimes are overpowering a mix in palm mutes.
Also it creates space to push the guitars more upfront. I use C4 even when there are not such resonances..sometimes less..somtimes more (threshhold) -
Try the c4 compressor around 240-250 as said... You'll see the difference, and why guys like Andy sneap made it a popular trick...
-
Use any multi band compressor for this way of controlling the boom on a guitar track, but don't just blindly copy someone else's settings. Boost and sweep frequencies until you hear the offending area, then set up the compressor. The McDSP is very good for this too.

While im still working on the Mesa Roadking 2 pack.....im picking up another amp tomorrow
This one is a legend..and to my knowledge no profiles available so far from this one
(no not a Friedman ^^) -
