Powerhead and powerrack heating concerns

I'm gigging a lot recently, and I'm thinking of selling my KPA standard for a powerhead or possibly a power rack.

My question is.... Do the powered versions of the KPA generate a lot of heat?

I just worry that keeping a power rack in a 2U rack unit could cause overheating issues, or if I got the power head that when I'm recording direct that the power section would still be active, sucking up electricity and hence generating a lot of unnecessary heat.

Are these concerns justified?

You can turn of the internal power amp completely afaik.

Heat also shouldn't be a problem (by the way a 2U rack will not fit, the Kemper rack version is 3U). The power amp module Kemper is using doesn't heat up that much. It actually doesn't even need a fan or any additional ventilation (as statet by Band & Olufsson in the spec sheet). So no worries here

In my powerrack, there are ventilation holes also on the bottom of the unit iirc. To make it fit a 3U rack, I had to uninstall the rubber supports from the bottom. Consequently, I believe that these holes do not anymore contribute to the ventilation process. The unit sits very tightly in the rack.

I have not had any problems, but I am also wondering if it is ok to block (some of) the ventilation holes this way.

Class D poweramps run very cool and weigh nothing.
Even after two hours of running they're only slightly warm.

I think I'll look into the powerhead as for bringing it from studio to rehearsals and back again, it would be the most convenient option for me.
