I saw a video for Misha Mansoor's new 30" scale baritone guitar in an extremely low tuning so i tuned the E to D and the B to G on my 7 string and wrote this. Nothing like Periphery but fun none the less.
With no judgement from me I thought it would be good for you to know if you plan to visit Sweden that the word "pitt" in Swedish is slang for the male sex organ.

Mats 😂 Thank you so much for keeping me right here, if i ever visit Sweden (and i very much hope to) then i'll keep this out of my vocabulary. I never know what to call my tunes as i only come up with the names when i start the session. This was called "Pitt" as my daughter had started watching "The Pit" on HBO Max so that's how it all came about. Poor Brad Pitt though, he must get a hard time in Sweden 😂

4. How do you get so so clear and distinct in the mix without overpowering the other instruments?
5. Do you have any tricks you want to share?
The solo is absolutely wicked and fingers just ache at the thought of playing at that speed!

Hi Mats, thank you so much for listening and commenting on the track. It's actually Toontrack EZBass which i use for all my tracks as it works seamlessly with EZdrummer 3. For following the chords i just drag in the notes on the timeline and syn them to EZdrummer. For the more complex patterns i just record the bass part on guitar and drag it into EZbass and it coverts it to midi. The whole bass track takes ME about 5-10 miunutes to do with this method. In this track i run EZbass through a distorted bass model in EZmix as i was trying to get a Periphery style distored bass tone. The Ibanez RG652 is also a great gutiar to record with as it's not overlay bass heavy to sits really well in the mix. I just pan the rhythm guitar parts hard left and right and sit the bass in the centre along with the bass drum. To be honest, there is always a bit of luck with me as to how the mix turns out 😂 The Ibanez is also very, very easy to play so trying to sound good whilst playing faster works for me on this guitar but i do tend to need more gain to be able to play faster as my picking skills are actually quite limited. If you would like any of the EZbass and EZmix settings for the bass tone i am more than happy to chare them, just let me know.
