JZ impulses are really good with the right DR profile. Plus pretty reasonable prices

Try JZ Impulse packs and search for specific bands/albums that used the HM2 sound and you can tweak from there

Get a BBE Sonic Maximiser. It make pinched harmonics POP !!!!
Does Kemper do something like a BBE Sonic Maximiser? Always been curious what they’re like

JZ Impulse Responses (gumroad.com)
So I decided to download a few of this guy's profiles based on Metallica and MachineHead albums and when I added them to my GGD 5153 profile these IRs are very close to the albums.
You get a ton of wav files and they are to suit specific units and plugins - Kemper wasnt included but I tried the NDSP wavs with the Kemper and worked really well.
The guy has put a load of free impulse packs up there, but has a list of paid ones which are $5 each. For me it was worth the experiment and would recommend

Hi guys. I’m doing some recording through my interface into my DAW and was finally getting round to doing some vocals and claps and other overdub things.
Of course I need a mic preamp but I was wondering if my Kemper could actually be used to preamp the mic signal and maybe even EQ the signal as I record (would otherwise try EQ in post via plugins).
Any help would be greatly appreciated;)

It’s the same 3 or 4 amps over and over with different gain stages. Supposedly they also support different pickup types but not sure that matters.
The Butterslax sounds a little muddy compared to the GGD profile. JCM is possibly a bit too bright. The mixed profiles of the 3 amps are okay but not worth the STL price tag at all.

What if every Kemper update featured a batch of new overdrives? Now there’s a thought…

Think there are clones you could try on eBay out there, but I’d say go for it bro. Was looking at this myself especially after watching Thorn’s review

I tried the plugin last night and it does sound pretty authentic. More so than the Choptones profiles due to actually being able to control it. I know Mesa have had a hand in it somehow and it really feels like the lead tones were spot on. Even the Metallica capture setting sounds pretty close. A good plugin but as usual NDSP has overcharged for this at €99. I’ll buy it fully when it comes up on sale.
Also it took me a while to find the presence knob (round the back of the amp for some reason). It needs IRs so you really benefit from it too. The 3 cabs and x many mics won’t help sell it. Happy to see this come out but damn lower the price and start packing more cabs.

Has anyone tried this plugin yet? I saw Rig Exchange has a couple of profiles from it already. They’re charging a hefty price for this plugin.

dgburns Great profiles. Followed your work for a while, good stuff.
-
£9.99 for five profiles is steep
-
How did you profile a plugin? Thought that was impossible
-
Anyone tried these amps? Seen them pop up on YouTube but wondering if anyone has actually tried one

As said, tastes vary as do wants and needs. I have purchased a lot of various packs and have found some profiles within the packs to be awesome and some to be less than I was hoping for. I have yet to find a pack that has perfection (for me) from top to bottom. I will list some companies I have purchased from.
Hertz
GGD
Develop Device
STL
Titan Audio
Bogren
Keith Merrow
Fortin
what’s the Develop Device ones like? I saw their Triple Rec profile pack but didn’t buy it. Any good?

Bought the DRec pack. Will try it tomorrow. \../,

For me it’s Cannibal Corpse as they use the Recs a lot. That Red Before Black sound is great and really pushes the Rec hard. Video sounded good and thanks for the quick demo!

pricey and no demos or freebie good luck with that
either freebie samples on RE or a sound demo would be helpful. I’m eyeing up the Rev G pack…

Pete Turley also has some Fortin modded JVM profiles that are pretty brutal and good value. He has some free samples on Rig Exchange which are worth checking out.
